The Daily Clutter is a daily pictorial and occasionally text update of whats going through Rentak Sejuta's news desks everyday.
The Daily Clutter #1
The editor's desk is a bit messy today as weekend approaches.
Hot on our desks are American Idol 8 top 3 finalist Danny Gorkey's debut album "My Best Days", which is in the process of being reviewed. Gorkey, one of our favourites in AI, has taken the country road by signing to 19 Recordings and RCA Records, Nashville. Since its a country pop album, our publisher Anastasia will have the goods on that in a while. The first listens look promising, but we are not sure whether Gorkey should really be a country singer, especially, when he has got a great pop soul voice.
Also cluttering up our space is local Mandopop singer songwriter Hao Ren's 2nd album "Dance 2", which was officially launched just yesterday at Celebrity Club at Solaris Mont Kiara. Its a double CD, with all sleeve notes in Chinese, and the press release was unfortunately in Chinese too, so its going take us a bit to get going on that. It will probably make it to our CD player by Sunday.
Hiding just below my keyboard (yup, the PC with the 17" LCD is mine), is Jakob Dylan's 2nd solo album "Women & Country". Jakob who? Well, he is the lead singer & songwriter, of the early nineties alternative rock band The Wallflowers, and also the youngest son, of legendary folk rock singer Bob Dylan. So its no surprise that this album leans towards that direction as well. Its been playing all night and most morning here in Rentak, so I guess we must like it. The best song on it so far, "Truth For Truth" has been getting repeated listens from us.
What you can't see is Usher's latest, "Raymond vs Raymond" which is underneath that pile of press releases, lying on the other keyboard. What other keyboard? The Midi keyboard hidden under all the clutter. Ha! Ha! Now you know why we are calling this the daily clutter. His CD has also been getting some airplay here in Rentak, but so far it has not sunk its hooks into us as yet. The only song that has us paying attention is "OMG", the one with Will.I.Am as was seen on the AI results show last week.
We will probably get through all these CDs this weekend & have the reviews up pronto, but right now, we have to prepare for two major events that we will be covering tonite - African Entertainment Awards (Malaysia) 2010 at Summit Hotel Subang & Kau Di Hatiku Charity Concert at Bejaya Times Square Hotel. The details of both events are in our Events section. We will update once we are back.
