If you are looking for a good Middle Eastern Ramadan buffet without busting your budget, Layali El Sham strategically located on Jalan Pudu, close to the tourist district of Kuala Lumpur is certainly the treat. At just RM 45.00 a pax for adults and RM 20.00 for kids, you will be hard pressed to find such a wide selection of delicious Middle Eastern dishes anywhere else in town, created lovingly in their authentic Syrian, and also Yemeni & Middle Eastern kitchen.
According to its Syrian director Waseem Kadou, the two and half-year-old Layali El Sham which means "Night of Damascus" hopes to showcase Syrian cuisine to not just international tourists but also locals. Although Middle Eastern food is more or less similar, Syrian cuisine has its very own unique flavours. Their specialities include their appetizers, barbeque and special dishes such as their okra, muhammara & beans. The must-try items are their freshly grilled barbeque and also their appetizers, which they will serve up to 15 different types for Ramadan. Also available for Ramadan will be around 8 main dishes, various desserts and local fruits.
A relaxing, cosy and welcoming interior greets famished guests.

Not only do you have a fulfilling choice of excellent meal options, the service is also excellent at Layali El Sham. The waiters, mostly Syrian and Yemeni, are attentive, quick and friendly. and are excellent ambassadors for their respective nations. It's no surprise that Layali El Sham is popular with Middle Eastern visitors and residents, but the owners hope that it will also be a popular choice with Malaysians.
Their freshly grilled moist and tasty barbeque is a must try at Layali El Sham.
Another must-try item is their Muhammara, a hot pepper dip from Aleppo, Syria
The Levantine appetizer Moutabal. made up of mashed cooked eggplant mixed with tahini, olive oil and various seasonings is a definite must.
These Lebanese Warak Enab meat stuffed grape leaves are definitely a tantalising appetiser too.
It can't get healthier than Tabbouleh, a Levantine vegetarian salad which is made mostly of finely chopped parsley, with tomatoes,
mint, onion, bulgur, and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Another healthy meal option here is Fattoush, a Levantine peasant salad made from toasted pieces of khubz (Arabic flat bread)
combined with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as radishes and tomatoes.
