Following up her successful English language debut "There You Are" in quick fashion, sought after Chinese pop singer and actress, Jessie Chung, officially announced the release of her sophomore "Be Strong" album, at a press conference held at the Selangor Performing Arts Centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, last Thursday. The new seven (7) track album which is published by Future Entertainment & Music Group (Australia) was produced and mastered in Sydney, Australia. "Be Strong" was released in under three months of her debut which sold more than 10,000 units in 2 months, and peaked at #2 on Taiwan's most influential and authoritative Five Music Top 5 Chart For International Albums, just below Lady Gaga's "Joanne". Her debut also peaked at #2 in Taiwan's iRadio FM96 Popularity Chart, ranking ahead of Sia, Celine Dion, Rihanna and Ariana Grande, and has won favour with music critics in Taiwan. The pop rock flavoured "Be Strong" will be distributed here by Warner Music Malaysia and is expected to outdo "There You Are".

Gary Scallan, CEO/Chairman of Future Entertainment & Music Group (Australia).
According to Gary Scallon, CEO of Future Entertainment, "We see in Jessie an incredible potential in the pop rock genre. Jessie is, and will become the new generation princess of rock". Gary who was more than happy to make the long trip to Malaysia for the launching, joined Warner Music Malaysia & Singapore's Managing Director Darren Choy and Symphony Musical House's Managing Director Brian Choot, to literally crown Jessie as the "Princess of Rock" in accordance to the direction she will be taking in the music industry. Jessie was also presented with a beautiful bejeweled electric guitar during the press launch. Agreeing that Jessie is deserving of the "Princess of Rock" title, Darren Choy admired Jessie for not conforming to standards dictated by society. "She is not afraid to be herself, and that is what fascinates us the most. She made her mark in the music scene by her own hard work, and is now striving towards the pinnacle of her career. Jessie performed astoundingly in the pop-rock scene with her recent English language debut." acknowledged Darren.

The new album comes packaged with a 64-page photo book, an audio CD and a DVD with 3 music videos. The music videos were all shot in Australia. The title track was filmed among the limestone formations within the Nambung National Park in the Pinnacles Desert and on the Lancelin Sand Dunes, both in Western Australia, causing Jessie to suffer sunburns during the filming which took more than 8 hours under the blistering sun piercing through an ozone depleted sky. During the media interview sessions, Jessie also shared that she was asked by the director to not wear a bra under her halter top dress during the beach shoot for artistic reasons. Initially reluctant, she eventually agreed to do it in order to make a great music video, and declared she gave it her all to making it a success, including allowing herself to be kissed by her over exuberant Caucasian screen partner, although the script didn't require it. The other two music videos - "Forever Young" - was filmed on the streets around Southport on the Gold Coast in Queensland while - "Possibility" - was filmed in the interland Glass House Mountains just off the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Jessie hopes her new music videos will excite her loyal and also new fans and surpass her previous music videos which have already received over 3 million views on YouTube.
Speaking candidly with the media, Jessie hopes her album to be a motivational force to others, encouraging them to be strong despite facing failures. She related that she joined many singing competitions when she was younger, but newer ever placed first, but that did not deter her from making a success of herself. She also spoke about youngsters being bullied and also committing suicide because of heartbreaks, and hopes that they will be strong and overcome all their problems. She also spoke about people who are ill, especially her cancer patients, who need to have courage to face their battles. For those who are not familiar, the high achieving Jessie Chung holds a Medical Degree (M.D.) in Clinical Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine-Oncology from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oriental Medical Institute of Hawaii, a Bachelor's Degree in Homeopathic Medical Science from the Homeo Research & Educational Institute and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Australia, among many other certifications. She is also the founder of Natural Health Farm, President of the Malaysia Naturopathic Association and Vice president of the Malaysia Anti-Cancer Association (MACA), and is known as the Dtox Princess. Despite her academic and business achievements, her first love is still singing, and has thus far released 7 Chinese language albums, before venturing into the English language market. She was encouraged by her mum to be a singer as it was her mum's dream as well, but her father wanted her to be a doctor, so she fulfilled her dad's dream first before embarking on her own.
Jessie who can sing in five languages cites Fauziah Latif as her favourite local singer. "I love her!!!" she exclaimed. "I even sing her songs in my shows. She was a guest artiste on my concert last year singing two numbers. She will be singing my most popular Chinese song, which is the theme song of my next drama - Stage Play Music Box, in my upcoming concert" Jessie proudly proclaimed. "We plan to have a duet together in my upcoming mini Malay album next year, hopefully in May. She is looking for very good writers for the songs." Jessie added while hoping that she can get multiple award winning composer Helen Yap to produce it.
Talking further about "Be Strong", Jessie said it took her a year to finish it, working closely with the Australian producers to come up with the songs. She even had to take singing lessons in Australia to improve her singing, as well as dancing and acting classes, plus working on 6 music videos there. She hopes to shoot the next two music videos here in Malaysia, preferably in Langkawi. Besides singing, Jessie plays the piano and electone, and a little bit of guitar and dreams to have an instrumental album one day.
Jessie who is currently with Future Entertainment, got signed quite by chance. She tried out for an audition just for fun, and was interviewed by Gary Scallan for one month before landing the deal. With a successful debut, expectations have become even higher, and the demands on her delivering her best got even more harder. She was pushed to sound more like a throaty African American for a particular track, that caused her to breakdown in tears. But she soldiered on and made it happen. Her long term goal is to achieve success on the Billboard charts. She is hoping to break into the Chinese entertainment market as well with the help of Chinese entertainment industry veteran Ong Peng Chu, who will manage her for China. For a start, Jessie will be hosting her own talk show in China from May 2017 under the Astro network in China.
