SO7 CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH 2 1/2 HOUR LIVE CONCERT IN KL

Illustrious Indonesian alternative and pop rock band Sheila On 7 (SO7) from Yogyakarta will be holding a live concert at the StarXpo Hall, KWC Fashion Mall, in Kuala Lumpur on 27th March 2016, in conjunction with their 20th anniversary in the music industry. The highly anticipated concert which is organised by local promoter Mawlaya Network Sdn Bhd was announced officially at a press conference held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club last Thursday. It was attended by Mawlaya's Managing Director Rezuan Ramli, opening act Noh Salleh and supporting band Restoe Iboe's guitarist Deo Karmawan and drummer Azim "Jenk" Ali, Sony Music's Hermond Cheng, media members, production members and invited guests. The publicity for the concert is handled by Mewah Event Management.
The multiple award winning Sheila On 7 who were formed in 1996, have a total of 10 studio albums to their credit, and are currently made up of founding members Eross Candra (guitar), Akhdiyat Duta Modjo (vocals) and Adam Muhammad Subarkah (bass), and Brian Kresno Putro (drums). Their self-titled debut album Sheila on 7 was ranked #33 by Rolling Stone Indonesia on "The 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time". The magazine also listed their classic hits "Dan" (#29) and "Melompat Lebih Tinggi" (#147) on "The 150 Greatest Indonesian Songs of All Time". They are also the first ever band in Indonesia to have their first 3 physical albums selling more than 1 million copies each locally. Among their notable achievements is winning the Best Song Award for "Dan" and Best Producer Award at the Anugerah Muzik Indonesia (AMI) 1999, Song of the Year for "Dan" at MTV Ampuh 2001, Best Pop Song and Best of the Best Award for "Sephia" at the Sharp AMI Awards 2001, Best Pop Album & Best Album Recording for "07 Des" at the AMI Awards 2002, Most Popular Group in Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) 2002 (SG) and 2003 (MY), Best Group & Album at APM 2003 (MY), Best Alternative Pop Song, Album, Group & Best of the Best Song for "Pejantan Tangguh" and Best Motion Picture Theme Song for “Melompat Lebih Tinggi” at the AMI Awards 2004 and Best Group and Best Song for "Berhenti Berharap" at APM 2005 (SG), from the more than 90 awards they have received thus far. Their latest album "Musim Yang Baik" which was released in 2014, gained them the Best Album as well as Best Song for "Lapang Dada", and also Best Group at the NET 2.0 Indonesian Choice Awards 2015. The band is also no stranger to winning awards in Malaysia, with wins at Hai Magazine's Music Poll, Anugerah Era Malaysia and Anugerah Bintang Popular.

"The two and half hour concert which will see the band playing all their major hits and popular favourites, is a fantastic treat for both local and regional fans, as it is held in conjunction with their 20th anniversary. The iconic band who have faced many ups and downs throughout their glorious career is looking forward to putting on a spectacular show for their loyal fans", shared its principal organiser Rezuan Ramli. "Fans are expected to come from Indonesia, Singapore and also Brunei for this long overdue concert here in Malaysia" he added. SO7 last performed in Malaysia back in 2013, and 2016 is looking like a "Musim Yang Baik (Good Season)" for them, and also all their fans.

Opening for the SO7 will be recent Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) 30 nominee Noh Salleh, who is the lead vocalist of leading indie band Hujan. He will be supported by experienced and established musicians from Restoe Iboe, who are made up of Bajai (keyboards), Deo Karmawan (guitar), Roni Hasbi (bass), Hafiz Monk (trumpet) and Azim "Jenk" Ali (drums). Expect a lot of "Angin Kencang" on the 15th floor of KWC Fashion Mall from Noh Salleh and his immaculate band mates, during his thirty minute plus performance, with hit songs from his own solo album and also from Hujan. The colourful singer who is a fan of SO7 since their debut, expressed that he was always hoping to perform on the same stage as the band and is proud that he was given the opportunity to do so at their momentous concert here.

According to Sony Music Malaysia, SO7's label here, they are in consideration to produce a commemorative release for the band's 20th anniversary and hope they will be able to have something ready for the concert, if everything goes well. Official band merchandise will also be sold at the venue, but any special merchandise for the concert is still at the discussion stages at the moment.
Tickets for the concert are priced at RM75, RM110, RM150 and RM190, are already on sale with more than a thousand tickets having already been snapped up thus far. Tickets can be purchased online at wwww.ilasso.com and on ground through Rock Corner outlets in The Curve, Midvalley and Subang Parade and Victoria Music Centre's outlets in Sungei Wang Plaza, Amcorp Mall and Tropicana City Mall. There will be a 10% discount for students purchasing their tickets at these outlets when they show their student cards. All tickets for the concert are free standing only, except for the RM190, which will be in a more chilled out lounge style setting. The high ceiling-ed concert venue at StarXpo Hall is capable of handling over 7,000 concert goers, and is located strategically between two LRT stations (Hang Tuah & Pudu) and is easily accessible, with over 1,500 indoor parking bays at its disposal.
