Good Vibes Presents Echosmith & RÜFÜS @ KL Live, Life Centre, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur (8/8/15)
When: 8.00pm, Saturday, 8th August, 2015
Future Sound Asia announces Good Vibes Presents: Echosmith and RÜFÜS Extending that festival feeling throughout the year, Good Vibes Presents will give music fans the chance to catch great international acts in the run-up to the main festival in 2016.
Music fans are in for a treat this August 8th, with Californian ‘Cool Kids’ Echosmith set to rock KL Live at the first of a brand-new series of shows titled ‘Good Vibes Presents’. Conceived as a way of extending that festival feeling to Malaysia all year-round, ‘Good Vibes Presents’ will give fans the chance to see top international acts in a series of one-off shows in the run-up to the main Good Vibes Festival in 2016. Headlining the very first show in this new series is US alt-pop band Echosmith, the four-piece family of musicians behind the smash-hit single ‘Cool Kids’. This show will mark the first time the band has performed in Malaysia. They will be supported by Sydney-based dance trio RÜFÜS - also performing in Malaysia for the first time - alongside local favourites DASH and Indiego & Co.
“Good Vibes Festival is already known for bringing exceptional international acts to Malaysia, and this is something we’re keen to build on.” said Future Sound Asia Director Ben Law. “While the main festival will return in 2016, we don’t believe music fans should only get the chance to see their favourite international artists during the festival season. That’s why we’re launching Good Vibes Presents - a series of shows featuring top international artists that will bring that festival feeling to Malaysia all year long.”Tickets for the gig at KL Live on 8th August are on sale now, exclusively at www.boxtix.asia. As with the main Good Vibes Festival, early-birds will be able to purchase their tickets at a special discounted rate of RM80, with further phases of tickets released as the event date draws closer. Details of further Good Vibes Presents shows and the main Good Vibes Festival itself, scheduled for 2016, will be revealed at a later date.

About Echosmith
Even before Echosmith released its debut album Talking Dreams, the Los Angeles alt- pop band had been ascending by leaps and bounds. The Sierota siblings —Sydney (vocals/keyboard), Jamie (vocals/guitar), Noah (vocals/bass), and Graham (drums) —are gearing up for an even bigger 2015 with new single “Bright,”after 2014 solidified them as a truly breakout act with the success of “Cool Kids.”The certified platinum track dominated everywhere, charting in the Top 5 at Hot AC, Top 10 at Top 40, and in the Top 10 of the iTunes singles chart, plus Top 15 of Billboard’s “Hot 100”. The “Cool Kids”video has racked up over 30 million views on YouTube, and the new “Bright”video is set to follow in its footsteps. The Southern California-born quartet grew up in a musical household, and shared a love for playing instruments and listening to bands as varied as Coldplay, The Smiths, U2, Joy Division, and Fleetwood Mac. Those influences have yielded the melody- minded, New Wave-influenced sound of Talking Dreams, which was produced by Mike Elizondo (Tegan & Sara, Regina Spektor) and earned rave reviews. The band has been featured by the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Billboard, TeenVogue, and ELLE, who dubbed “Cool Kids”as “an ageless anthem.” In 2014, Echosmith were named both an MTV “Artist to Watch”and a VH1 “You Oughta Know”Artist. They were a break-out band at SXSW, where they performed at the MTV Woodie Awards (leading Entertainment Weekly to comment: “Of all the bands looking to make noise on the Woodies, Echosmith seemed most ready to break out”). The band was featured on the fourth season of MTV’s hit series Awkward, having their music showcased throughout and culminating with the band at the centerpiece of a story line.
In the past two years, Echosmith has toured with everyone from Owl City and Young The Giant to American Authors, in addition to their two Warped Tour runs. They are now out on their first, full-scale headlining tour, continuing to win over new converts to their sparkling songs and dynamic live shows.
Echosmith plan to hit the studio soon to record a new album, but in the meantime, go to any of their shows and you’ll hear the audience singing right along. “I remember the first time it happened on Warped, it seemed so weird to me,”says Sydney. “I’d get the chills every time —even though it was 110 degrees. It’s just so cool to see other people as passionate about the band as we are.”

About RÜFÜS
RÜFÜS are a Sydney based trio carving out a place for themselves on dance floors and stages the world over. Using layered synths, drums and warm vocals, Jon, James and Tyrone have built a soundscape and aesthetic that is entirely familiar, yet distinctly their own.
After releasing two EP’s on their own label and a string of remixes, the band locked themselves away into a disused water tank-turned recording studio;Emerging eight months later with their debut record ATLAS in August 2013. Debuting at #1 on the ARIA album charts,ATLAS was nominated for 6 ARIA awards and went on to win ‘Best Electronic Album’, at the Australian Independent Records Awards, along with a string of other accolades as it took the band to world stage.
As a live act, their show is a statement of intent, equal parts hypnotic rhythmic accents and calculated euphoric climaxes. TheirAustralian‘Worlds Within Worlds’was sold out from start to finish with 30,000+tickets sold. While elsewhere they are selling out shows in L.A, San Fran, NYC, London, Amsterdam and Brussels. Their Festival achievements read as a wish-list with performances at; Splendour In The Grass, Field Day, Reading & Leeds, Falls Festival, Berlin Festival, etc. all cementing their place as one of the most exciting breakthrough electronic acts of recent times.
Currently lock down in their Sydney studio, the band are working on the follow up to ATLAS, having spent the latter part of 2014 writing between Berlin, Suffolk and Sydney studios. Expect new music soon.
