17 Slot CD Rack (Self Assembled)
LOW PRICED STACKABLE CD STORAGE SOLUTION A GOOD OPTION FOR CD COLLECTORS
Product Review & Photos: Dragon
I love the Japanese for their design simplicity and practicality. Here's another one that I discovered when I walked into a newly opened Japanese "livingware" store in Sungei Wang Plaza recently - nothing spectacular, just a very quaint self assembly required CD rack.
This CD rack is made of fogged medium hard plastic and comes flat packed in 6 clean pieces. It takes about 30 seconds to put it together by just pushing the pieces into place. No screws, tools or glue required. And voila, you have a basic CD rack that stores 17 (odd number) standard sized CDs. And it's stackable as well, both on top or sideways, so you can keep adding to it, to make into a massive storage system for your CD collection.
But the really brilliant part is the price. Just RM 5.00 each.
Even a child can do this!!! Japanese language lessons not compulsory
I have heaps of CDs and a mix match of storage boxes & racks and was on the verge of getting storage racks from Ikea, which unfortunately cost an arm & a leg. Luckily I popped into this store by chance.
I bought two of these plastic racks just to test them out, and I am now quite convinced, this may just be the best solution for my CD storage. I don't have to splurge immediately, as I can add on, as my collection grows, and it won't cost much to upgrade gradually. It is also easy to move theses babies around or reshuffle my collection as they can be unstacked and rearranged easily. My only concern is, what happens when they stop making these wonders. Ha! Ha! (manufacturer please take note).
The good news is they come in DVD case sizes as well and can be locked (sideways) to the CD racks as well.
Where did I buy them? At the Daiso Japan store (which has 3000 "livingware" outlets in the world) in Sungei Wang Plaza. I can't remember the floor but its at the back. Just ask the info counter. Everything there is sold at RM RM 5.00.
I stacked one on top of the other. Looks pretty good.
I only wished they came in 20s. 17 is just so weird. Wonder, how high I can go?
