I was appalled. Appalled because a decent singer couldn't make it into the top 40. Now why is that? Why couldn't a gifted talent like Atilia Sarani make it even thru the early stages. After all she was Top 12 in MI2. Strangely, even the likes of Faizul, Fauzi & Farah managed to sneak into the top 40. We all know who the better singer of the 4 are? So what's going on here?
Which really got me to thinking. And made me realise that perhaps even Dayang may not make it into the Top 12. All the familiar faces are only there and made it thus far, just to increase the mileage (and ratings) of this new program. I doubt that someone as intelligent, capable & creative as Izham (8TV CEO) would be remotely interested in "recycling". They will definitely want a fresh & reasonably young face to market. Which will be entirely of their own make. Yes, it may be true that they opened the show up to all the pros, but thats just to make us all get excited and raise the ratings when the program goes on air. But thats all its gonna be. I am absolutely certain that the producers & judges have been given clear instructions to weed out a brand new item to produce. Whether I am right or wrong, we will know in due course. But I can almost confidently guarantee that it wont be Dayang who will be the OIAM. She is only the window dressing. I believe, one by one, all the familiars will be axed.
Frankly, I don't blame them. It's simply a brilliant strategy which is not beyond someone like myself. If I was in their shoes, I will probably go down the same road. After all its the show that must prevail as thats the real money earner.
The sad part is, I think, is that many of these known "artistes" may just be deluding themselves into thinking that they even have a chance in a million. The reality of it may be a little hard to swallow. A bitter pill no doubt. Perhaps its just the awakening everyone in the industry needs.

Dragon, i know wat u meant...even for me, Atilia was the 'winner' of last year's MI2 & she has an international voice...even Jac herself likes Atilia's talent so much.
If Dayang is not one of the finalist...i tink there's really something wrong wif OIAM coz she is really good...and 8TV shd aware that they must select the best to be the OIAM not ony based on their look but also the look & talent together ...hoping that she will be qualified lar.
What if foreign ppl watching the SHOW??? Who malu??? They must be wondering why malaysian judges selecting those untalented fella to be the OIAM. It will be really malufying coz we called it a OIAM & we must find the most talented singer who can be recognized in overseas & make malaysian proud in the future...

I remember Izham saying that they have instructed the judges to pick the very best talent that can be groomed to be an artiste that can be internationally marketed in time. Honestly, as good as she is, i personally do not see Dayang as one.
Remember, we havent seen the rest as yet. There might be many who are way better than her, and may fit the mould better. Perhaps, there is another Jac in this box. We will just have to wait and see.

well, i duno how to comment, as i was not there and have not heard them sing... but all i can be certain is that (according to farah) there are some real good people still in the competition, and most of the contestants are not so sure themselves what the judges really want. she herself was rather disappointed dat atillia couldn't get through. From my personal view, I think they're looking for some sort of package they can market abroad with the least amount of work or training (similar to uptown's view)... but we dun know exactly what that 'brand' or package is at the moment... so we'll just have to wait and see...

Looks like it... maybe we should ask Uncle Paul to give us a reasonable explanation... but what i think is... Atilia is certainly having a much better voice than Dayang... talking back bout the AIM13 show when Dayang sang... it just didnt make me feel like "WOW... SHE IS GREAT..." normally when ppl sing in a live show and i am in the show itself.. i should have having goosebumps but it didnt work on me during her performance... One that really make me feel geli as in bulu meremang is Jac... seriously... when she sings... especially Gemilang... i just cant stop my bulu from dancing.. EhehHEhHEe... even when i watch her sing in a tv show... they just automatically stand up and not only one part of my body... the whole body's bulu meremang... yea... bulu i meant... hehehe... i think that is the great great great singer... which is hard to find i know... One thing that i really dont understand is - is Atilia not a good singer...?? it cant be that she WAS in the top 12 of Malaysian Idol and not even Top 40 for OIAM... that really made me more curious about it... and looking very much forward to watch the show... well what can we do.... it is all up to the judges and yea.. we can only wait for the show to begin...

Atilia out... I am really surprise with the decision of the judges... Really cannot make out what the judges are looking for? The last time in MI2 was her wedding dinner function style outfit as the judges put it... was her problem.. but she has great voice.....but now from the pics I see... Atilia looks great... she has shed off the wedding dinner function outfit and looked stunning... What did we miss out? that the judges finally found out? that we dont know? I wonder?

In my opinion, with Dayang in...I think we can see the direction this program is going to be very local...or shall I say asian... Needless to say, entertainment is also another kind of business... It needs buyers... and look around us,, what are we selling and who is buying.. For a Malaysian artist to sing in English... it doesn't sells...well understandably the standard of such and the competition of such is too great for us Malaysian to handle for now... I have a strong feeling they are aiming for a more down to earth Malaysian kind of figure in the hope to falk up the chunks they have to spend on this show. Let's wait and see...

OIAM's objective is to market the singer internationally. He/she has to produce a total English album right? I mean of course starting from here, it's up to them whether they wanna add in Malay tracks to be with the market flow here. IMO, I don't see Dayang has the 'International appeal' if she won...that's IF she won.
Still pretty much bugs the hell out of me why Atilia's been axed.
