Flo Rida is without question one of today’s most vibrant and recognizable superstars, a true international icon and history-making hip-hop hero. The Miami-based rapper burst onto the scene in 2007 with his record-breaking #1 hit, “Low (Feat. T-Pain),” which spent 10 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard “Hot 100.” With sales exceeding 11 million, “Low” -- found on Flo’s acclaimed 2008 debut album, “MAIL ON SUNDAY” – is one of the most successful digital singles of the past decade, making its way into the Guinness Book of World Records as 2008’s best-selling download in the United States.
In 2009, Flo Rida broke his own record when “Right Round” made history with more than 636,000 digital sales in its first week of release – still the biggest debut digital sales week for any single ever. Wild Ones is Flo rida fourth album which is released on the 26th June is an envelope-pushing collection of party-friendly anthems that showcases Flo Rida’s signature stop-and-go flow, melodic sensibility, massive hooks, and billion-dollar beats, as well as his clever lyricism. “I like to sit down and come up with a melody first, before I even apply the lyrics,” he says. “Because when you’re creating a track, you should become an instrument, not just rap over a beat. For me to connect with a track, it has to be soulful.”
To tap into that soulful vibe, Flo Rida collaborated with a host of A-list songwriters and producers, including Dr. Luke, Goonrock, Sia, Rico Love, DJ Frank E, Axwell, The Futuristics and SoFly and Nuis. “I’m very particular about who I work with,” Flo Rida says. “They don’t have to be a huge name, but I have to feel like they’re bringing something that’s outside the box.”
With total digital sales just shy of 2 million in the U.S. alone and 4 million worldwide, “Wild Ones (Feat. Sia)” marks Flo Rida’s sixth consecutive RIAA platinum certified single. The track climbs to #2 this week at Top 40 radio outlets nationwide, while also remaining a Top 5 hit at CHR/Rhythmic outlets. The “Wild Ones” companion video is also a sensation, drawing more than 52 million individual views at Flo’s official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/officialflo. In addition, Flo Rida’s newest single “Whistle” is already a #1 hit in Australia and New Zealand. The second and third single ‘ Wild Ones’ and ‘Whistle’ respectively has been hitting the local airwaves and in fact it is already charted on key radio stations such as HitzFM and is expected to be charting on all local radio charts!
Meanwhile, “Good Feeling” the first single for Wild Ones has proven one of Flo Rida’s biggest hits to date, earning 3x RIAA platinum certification since its initial release with worldwide digital sales at 5 million. In addition to topping the airplay rankings at CHR/Top 40 radio outlets across America, the single reached the top 3 on Billboard’s “Hot 100” – Flo’s seventh top 10 and fourth top 5 hit on the all-encompassing chart. “Good Feeling” has also received a Billboard Music Award nomination for “Top Rap Song.” What’s more, the “Good Feeling” companion video – directed, like “Wild Ones,” by acclaimed filmmaker Erik White – has been a YouTube smash, with total views now over 87 million at www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OnnDqH6Wj8.
