It has only been 2/3 days without the BeautyCamp schedule but I've realised how much it has shaped me! THANKS MUMO & BeautyCamp!
Once I first walked out of BeautyCamp, ha-ha I’ll be honest, I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I was on my way home, to the island that I love and the people, food and surroundings which I missed so much for the past month. However, you realise how much BeautyCamp has actually changed your lifestyle when you wake up at 7am randomly when you’re used to a 10am lay in, or when you’re just going out to the grocery store and have started putting on your base makeup! The journey that I’ve experienced throughout BeautyCamp has been like no other that I’ve had before in my short 18 years and I doubt I’ll experience such again- being the first time I was away from my family for that long/being on my own, having to be independent and do my own laundry!
I came into BeautyCamp as a girl and have left it as a woman who is confident, doesn’t frown! ( as much) and now enjoys smiling I find that the hectic schedule, responsibilities of being a house leader for the last week combined with the pressures and stress of photo shoots, challenges and lurking eliminations alike really sent all of us 19 girls for a true ‘shock’ of what it takes to be a Miss Universe Malaysia!
And speaking as a person who actually survived this whole month and am still sane, it was worth it! The 5am hardcore military-style workouts, the long hours of waiting for interviews, the spur of the moment last minute changes of locations and all the added drama of living with 18 other hormonal and emotional girls meant that if you could survive this and end up a stronger person you achieved something. I’ve come out of BeautyCamp knowing who I am, what I want to achieve and what’s more, the actual belief in myself that I can do it. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says – I’m possible.” –Audrey Hepburn.
I can’t thank the people who have helped me grow and learn throughout the month as much as I should- the MUMO staff, Andrea, All our mentors, judges, sponsors and the production crew and not forgetting all my fellow sisters from BeautyCamp (especially my roommates-SAYANG SKEEETT) – without all of your dedicated time, effort and advice I don’t think that I would be the person I am after BeautyCamp. I’ve learned so much in the last month, not only about how to talk, act and strut like a Miss Universe Malaysia but I’ve learned to appreciate other people, life lessons, morals, the importance of honesty as well as manners and even how to use the washing machine!
I don’t want to make this sappier, but I am so grateful and want to say “terima kasih!” to all my loving supporters- friends, family, fans and fellow Malaysians! Untuk sokongan kamu!!
Malaysia, hatiku. I will do my best and try my hardest to do what I came to achieve and my dream a reality plus make everyone proud Gala Night November 10th- here I come!
