Time really flies by.
I could still remember so perfectly well the first day we stepped foot into Beauty Camp; the heavy luggage, the emotional goodbyes to loved ones, the awkward initial conversations with the girls, the excitement and the anticipation of what awaits us here. All that seemed to long ago.
Yes, there has been ups and downs. The first two weeks were the toughest as there was so much to learn in such a short span of time. The dilemma that bugged us most was; do we behave as a beauty queen or should we behave as a reality TV star?
All of us girls came here with preconceived notions of how a beauty queen should behave; well-mannered, polite, soft-spoken etc etc. But then, Beauty Camp completely threw us off guard when they kept encouraging us to behave like, well, normal girls. This means portraying our ugly sides as well. HOW DO WE DO THAT? Aren't beauty queens like angels?
No, we're not. We're humans, just like you. We've got our good sides, but we also have our bad sides. That's the ugly truth.
The reality show aims to show Malaysia who their next Miss Universe Malaysia really is. It was a tough journey but goodness me, we learned so much! All these wouldn't have happened if not for our mentor, Andrea Fonseka. She has taught us just how important HONESTY is and that means being honest to ourselves and to others. Andrea is such a great role model and a true inspiration. I think one of the main reasons why we girls adore her so much is because she truly believes in each and everyone of us. She analyzes us and gives her most truthful comments about us and the areas in which we can improve. She's been stern, REALLY REALLY STERN because she needed us to believe in ourselves too, just like how she believes in us. For that, Andrea, thank you so damn much! You are such an inspiring woman!
Beauty Camp taught us to know who we really are and to embrace every aspect of ours. We are definitely stronger girls with a spring to our step and with a greater AND more concrete purpose in life!
