I hard a long think about this before deciding on this topic.
The prize at stake is RM 1 M. Thats a whole lot of money. Would you be willing to "invest" 10 or even 20 percent of that to get it? Imagine if you are in the final. Would you be willing to risk blowing RM 100,000 - 200,000 to win RM 1 M? That's easily 200,000 - 400,000 votes in your favour? And you still end up with no less than a cool RM 800,000.
There is no stopping anyone from doing it. Even if you didn't have that kind of money, you could always pitch the idea to willing "investors" who would be quite interested, should they get a reasonable cut for their endevour. Hmmm. Scary thought ya? But it is possible.
This is just a scenario, and I am not implying that any of the contestants would be willing to do that. But it just a plausible thought that needs a little consideration. After all the stakes are big enough, and money has always had a strong influence in swaying people.
Share your thoughts, please.

ok, my thoughts since it has really got nothing to do with the show per se...I am still not watching it...hehehe!
Well, yes it is an intresting thought, BUT I thought the premise of this show was that the 1 million dollars was not going to be won as a cash prize right? Only part of the RM1 will be going to the contestants and then rest to be invested in some form or the other into the person who wins this, therefore not all the RM1 will be of cash value so to speak.
So, I think by right, it would be RM (whatever the take home cash prize is) that is of value here.
Personally, investing SO much of money on someone with the "best" whatevers in this country...sorrylah...I'm too jaded a M'sian to think its worth anything...except OF COURSE if its was JAC....hehehehe, then yea, I'd go quikly, find one old ,senile rich man marry him and then invest the $$$....LOL!!!!!11

Anita,
When I asked Izham in a press conference one day, he said that the contestant can do whatever with the entire sum of money, so there is not restrictions. It is actually up to the contestants, as the producers only have an advisory role.

Well,it's a good point...but I don't suppose they are THAT desperate to use the "no (wallet)pain,no gain" method....besides,anyone with pride would rather win on their own merits
But it is a good point...and we have seen really dedicated fans before, who I guess are perhaps way more than willing to pay to see their favourite win....I won't be suprised if does happen...I guess that's the problem with this voting system...the fairness of the thing becomes a debate

This no longer about fairness of the system and about rich fans voting, but the fact that any contestant does have the power to determine their own destiny should they be willing to sacrifice a percentage of their ultimate reward.

yeah i thought about it before... scary but it's still possible. and that would mean it's like an investment, spend, and when u win, it'll come back to u. which brings us to another scenario...
what if an artiste joins, and the record company decides to INVEST in the competition? i mean, it would be a smart move. constantly pump in the money for votes, keep ur artiste in, then when he/she wins, all the investment is paid back in full, AND Monkey Bone will work with the winning contestant's recording company with a RM1mil budget... it all comes back to them. I'm not saying any of the contestants are doing so either, but it is still a definite scary possibility...
