This has been bugging me and a lot of others for way too long, so it has to be said.
Its rather sad and depressing that one of the countries most talented & celebrated artiste is not getting many deals from advertisers. Even with a whole lot of awards tucked under her, it seems advertisers have shied away from using her as an ambassador or spokesperson for their brands or even using her in commercials. What gives? Is there something wrong with Jac that doesnt meet with the advertiser's requirements? Should i say it? Or is that not the case. Are the advertisers too chicken to give her a shot. Perhaps they are still thinking that she doesnt have enough appeal for the majority of Malaysians? Maybe she is not Mawi enough?
Frankly there is nothing wrong with Jac. She is without a doubt beautiful, has great skin complexion, flawless skin, shiny long hair, a slender figure to die for with all the curves in the right places, a great personality, a beautiful smile, a perfect role model of true grit and perserverance, instantly recognisable, and a genuine quality talent on top of that, plus she loves her mum to death. She looks great in everything she wears, in fact she looks fabulous all the time. When she opens her mouth, ppl sit up and listen. So many worthwhile qualities, dont you think? So whats the deal then? Is she not Malaysian enough?
So many lesser talents, seem to be getting deals - u can figure out who they are. Even hosts, djs & judges too (with no disrespect to them). Marion Caunter from 8TV Quickie has got at least 3 adds, Cheryl Samad is the Watson's ambasador, even the MI/OIAM Mat Salleh judge gets a break, and is a skin centre ambasador.
So how come such a big ticket item like Jac doesn't have some solid adds? She is after all an internationally franchised Malaysia Idol & Asean Music Festival Winner as well as winner at AIM, AJL & APM. She is definitel massive. So why no deals. She is definitely in demand as she is probably the most requested talent at corporate functions and shows. Everywhere she goes ppl notice her and get all excited. They swarm her like bees to honey. Furthermore she is an artiste signed with the biggest record label in town - Sony-BMG. Doesn't seem to count for much, does it. Its also rather strange that the Sony consumer products division are not using her at all to promote their products. Why ah?
Why isn't a quality personality with so many pluses not getting the deals, when lesser ones are showered with so many. Wouldn't the advertisers want to use a talent of real quality to promote their wares. Don't the advertisers want us the consumers to associate their products with quality stars. If the advertisers think their brand is the best, dont they want the best to promote it. No matter how many times I see Mawi's Ali Kafe & Mamee adds, I still drink Nescafe & eat Maggi. Those are the premium brands. No way is Mawi gonna convince me that the others are premium.
I am really surprised that the big boys are not jumping with both feets in and signing up Jac. I mean seriously. Perhaps they are still busy studying their demographic charts. Hey guys - please pay attention, Jac is a goldmine and Jac is Malaysian, and Jac appeals to all, even the nenek of my neighbourhood nasi lemak seller can tell u that.
There is something seriously wrong here. The media guys are not milking this talent for what she is worth. And thats a sad state of affairs. I hope you guys wake up soon and smell this cocoa colored brew. Cause she smells fantastic to so many of us. Unclog your nostrils and do something about it.
I truly hope that Jac gets a real super duper advert deal real soon. In fact I wish that Uncle (Dtk) Tony from the hottest airline in town may consider her to be a brand ambasador. She will be the absolute perfect one. How I wish I could see her face emblazoned on the surface of an Air Asia plane (like the MU team). The Gemilang plane, we can call it. And what better choice is there but Jac. After all she is the Asian Music Festival winner, and Air Asia is making so many inroads into Asian destinations already. Come on Uncle T, take heed. Go ahead and do something different. I bet we at Jacsville & Rentak Sejuta can plan your entire add campaign and do a truly fantastic and a commercially viable one too, and it wont cost u a bomb. After all the Jacsville crew is equally as talented as Jac herself.
I sincerely hope the add guys are reading this, open their eyes & ears and take note. Jac is a gem and its a waste she is not seen in enough commercials. Uncle T - here's your chance. Be bold and pick the best to represent your airline, before someone else with half a brain wisens up.
Sadly my pleas will fall on deaf ears as usual. I wouldn't be surprised if I suddenly see Saiful MI doing a commercial for Fair & Lovely or Rejoice on TV instead.
Check out these by the way:
1. Mawi (Ali Cafe, Mamee, Canon, Power Root, MyMobile ...)
2. Amylea (Mamee, Proton)
3. Daniel (Proton. Laconic, SeGi College)
4. Marion Caunter (M&M, Osim, Dutch Lady)
5. Cheryl Samad (Watsons)
6. Adam Caruthers (Coca Cola)
7. Paul Moss (Men's Skin Centre)
8. Jaclyn Victor (SeGi College)
