COVID-19 Status Update & Cluster Report (23/11/2020)
A record 1,884 new cases were announced today with 1,203 of these cases being reported in Selangor, mostly involving the workers of the Top Glove factory (Teratai Cluster) in Klang. Kuala Lumpur also reported a spike of 197 new cases today. Perak also saw a surge in new cases with 81 reported.
On a positive note, 250 patients recovered in Selangor, 16 in Kuala Lumpur and 13 in Perak.
Sabah now seems to be on a downtrend with 289 new cases with 416 recoveries. Seremban is still fluctuating with 41 new cases and 110 recoveries. Johore saw 15 new cases and 3 recoveries while Kelantansaw another 9 new cases with 3 recoveries.
Kedah had 36 new cases and 19 recoveries with neighbours Penang seeing 12 new cases and 19 recoveries.
Both Perlis and Putrajaya saw 1 new case. Putrajaya announced 6 recoveries
today.
Melaka, Pahang, Terrengganu, Labuan & Sarawak reported no new cases today. Labuan saw 15 recoveries, Melaka 6 and Sarawak 5.
Overall 883 patients recovered today, with 13,842 cases still being treated for COVID-19, of which 115 are in ICU with 48 of them on ventilators. 42,480 patients have since recovered. Unfortunately, 2 more deaths were reported today taking the total fatalities to 337. Rentak Sejuta extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved.
The cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia now stands at 56,659 and is fast approaching the total number of cases in Singapore, and may surpass it in a day or two. By contrast, the total number of cases reported thus far in China where the outbreak began is just above 86K.
