COVID-19 Status Update & Cluster Report (16/11/2020)
The total number of new cases nationwide for the last few days still lingers above the 1K mark with 1,103 new cases reported today, despite the significant drop in new cases in Sabah with just 288 reported. This is the result of the higher number of new cases emerging in the Peninsular.
Labuan also saw a decrease in new cases with 8, while Sarawak was down to just 1.
Kuala Lumpur continues to take the lead with another 392 new cases reported, of which 385 originated from the Damanlela construction cluster in Bukit Damansara. 379 of the KL cases were reported in Segambut and 5 more in Cheras, while Seputih and Lembah Pantai respectively report 2 and 1 case each. Kepong district has the most number of active cases in the capital city at 976 as of today. Wilayah Persekutuan of Putrajaya reported 1 new case today. The total number of active cases for both federal districts stands at 1,299.
Selangor recorded 151 new cases today, mostly discovered in Hulu Langat and Klang at 71 and 33 new cases respectively. The total number of active cases in Hulu Langat is now at 802 with Klang at 899. The male and female workers' hostels in Klang for Top Glove, the world's largest manufacturer of rubber gloves, will be placed under #EMCO from tomorrow until 30th November 2020, after registering a total of 217 positive COVID19 cases to date, with the factory instructed to undergo sanitization and all its workers to be screened.
The total number of active cases in Selangor stands at the 2,676.
Down South, 90 new cases were reported in Negeri Sembilan, 6 in Johore and 2 in Melaka.
Perak saw a peak in infections with 116 new cases reported. 112 of these cases were reported in Larut, Matang and Selama, while 4 were reported in Kinta. 112 of these cases originated from the Tembok cluster and 1 was from the Buntar cluster. Kuala Kangsar with a total of 128 has the most number of active cases in Perak, while the total current active cases in the state standing at 330.
Penang saw 26 new cases with Kedah reporting 10, while Perlis returns to 0. On the East Coast, Kelantan saw a minor surge with 7 new cases reported while Terengganu saw 4. No cases were reported in Pahang.
On the recovery side, 821 cases were discharged yesterday leaving 12,601 still receiving treatment. Of these 102 are in ICU with 39 on respirators. So far 35,606 COVID-19 patients have been discharged in total.
Unfortunately, 4 new deaths were reported today, with the total number of fatalities standing at 313. Rentak Sejuta extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved.
As we said yesterday we are fast approaching the 50K mark for cumulative Covid-19 infections in Malaysia.
The total cumulative cases in Malaysia now stands at 48,520. By comparison, our close neighbours Singapore stands at 58,124 with 28 deaths, Indonesia at 471K with 15,296 deaths, Thailand at 3,871 with 60 deaths, The Philippines at 410K with 7,839 deaths, Brunei at 148 cases with 3 deaths, and Timor-Leste at 30 cases with 0 deaths.
