Bahiyya Haneesa "Percaya" (Released 14/092020)
BAHIYYA HANEESA CONVEYS GIRL POWER MESSAGE IN ‘PERCAYA’
All-girl acapella group Bahiyya Haneesa deliver an empowering message in the spirit of feminism in their latest song titled ‘Percaya’. ‘Percaya’ (“Believe”) is all about believing you can achieve your dreams. Every woman, regardless of her background, is entitled to live the life of her dreams, but it takes hard work and dedication.
Bahiyya Haneesa are perfect examples of this, having gained popularity in a short period of time as Malaysia’s first acapella group. To date, they’ve garnered over 827,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 146,000 followers on Instagram, with their 2019 YouTube cover of ‘Solo’ by Jennie (of Blackpink fame) reaching more than 11 million views.
“In accordance to the title of the song, Bahiyya Haneesa wants every woman out there to believe in herself, knowing that every obstacle she goes through will eventually bring her to the desired result,” explains group member Bonn. We all know that there is nothing easy in this world. Everything needs effort and when we fail, we should never give up. Take failure as a boost for us to keep moving forward and succeed. “Women should always support each other. Women are an inspiration and deserve to be valued regardless of who they are and we should empower each other to elevate our dignity and respect”. Said Bonn.
According to all group members of the Bahiyya Haneesa they admits that choosing the right song to convey this message wasn’t easy. Besides being a good song, it had to fit in with each member’s style of delivery. However, ‘Percaya’ pulled at their heartstrings as soon as they heard the demo. “It took quite a long time to find a song that suited us, but this one really managed to captivate our hearts,”
Recording ‘Percaya’ presented a new set of challenges for Bahiyya Haneesa, but this only served to motivate them further. The girls spent about 18 hours in the studio together perfecting their solo parts and group harmonisation. They also wanted to match the strong melody and beats with strong vocals. ”We did a lot of research on songs about female empowerment, It took us about three months to complete and produce ‘Percaya’, so we really hope that our listeners will love it and make it their daily anthem. The song is a groundbreaking effort for the group. It’s very different compared to our previous ones, although the recording process was undeniably difficult and challenging, it was definitely worth it. We successfully inserted many elements including high notes, low notes, rap and a mixture of languages. The girls were nothing short of supportive of each other during the recording process, each encouraging the other to deliver her best”.Bahiyya Haneesa reveals.
Due to its inspirational message, ’Percaya’ has become the theme song of the SISREDAHJE campaign by Safi Shayla, the Hijab Haircare Expert.
