COVID-19 Status Update (4.00 pm, 19/7/2020)
Two foreign workers were confirmed positive at an eatery in Brickfields as of yesterday, with it being declared a new cluster.
This was a random screening which means both the Indian nationals working there did not display any symptoms before and during testing. A total of 14 foreign workers and 236 patrons were tested. They have been declared negative thus far. But how many more asymptomatic and untested foreign workers are there in the thousands of eateries nationwide coming in contact with us when we patronise these places? And how many of us are also asymptomatically carrying the virus around with us from place to place?
How many more new clusters like these are going to turn up, if we continue to disregard SOPs and go on as if it is back to normal. Let's not be the culprits that will unleash the second wave on ourselves. I don't think we can face another round of lockdowns. It will crush most of us.
We have been to quite a few events on assignment since the easing up on movement control but there clearly seems to be no regard for maintaining SOPs. It makes it difficult for us to work but most think it's okay to be so candid about everything.
It's no point in taking your temperature, sanitizing your hands and logging into MySehjatera, when it's a free for all once you pass through the door.
You do not know where I have been or who I came in contact with and neither do I know that of you. So why are you taking so many risks? Stop telling me its okay and you are COVID free. How do you know?
A friend recently returned from Penang and declared it was COVID free. How do you know? Did you personally sample all 1.79 million of its population. It may have been declared a green state but that does mean its absolutely free of the virus. Yes, we are free to travel all over but we are supposed to mind our SOPs and social distancing, when we are out of our homes.
Please, I do not want you or me to be part of an unwanted statistic. The pandemic is not over and will start to surge again if we continue to not need the warnings. Think people, think.
