17th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards - Sharing Session: Archiving Your Music @ FB Live (30/6/2020)
When: 3.00 pm, Tuesday, 30th June 2020
Featuring:
Paul Augustin
Paul Charles Augustin was a performing musician for more than 30 years prior to venturing into the event management industry. Back in 1996, Paul conceptualised the idea of a festival on an island. Eight years later in 2004, with his business partner Ms Chin Choo Yuen, they realized that dream by starting The Penang Island Jazz Festival.
His strong network connections in the music festival industry have also created opportunities for Malaysian musicians to perform in international festivals. As the Co-Principal Researcher and Co-Curator of The Penang Musical Heritage Project, Paul has also co-published a book titled "Just For The Love of It, Penang's Popular Music 1930s - 1960s" in 2015 and eventually co-created the Penang House of Music together with James Lochhead.
Jennifer Thompson
"Jennifer Thompson, aka “Kak Jenn”, has been in music scene for more than 30 years, she was also the General Manager for Persatuan Akademi Industri Music Malaysia ( AIM ) for 15 years and she also produced the “Anugerah Bintang Popular” (the Malaysian “People’s Choice Award”) for 9 years. Using her knowledge and her experience of the music scene, she now wants to impart what she has learned over the years to the bands and singer-songwriters of Malaysia." - masses.com.my

Fikri Fadzil is the founder of The Wknd Sessions, a music platform that focuses on promoting Malaysian and Southeast Asian independent music.

At the end of 2018, he left The Daily Seni to pursue his Masters in Critical Media and Cultural Studies in SOAS, University of London, all while running his own music portal with a group of passionate music-loving friends, named Awful Track Record. In his review series, Nota Nada, he calls himself a "peminat muzik tegar, budak baru belajar" - since he believes music is something you can learn about your entire life and still feel like a child whenever you discover something new. Like much about everything else in life.
