COVID-19 Status Update (4.00 pm, 8/6/2020)SINGLE DIGIT CASES SPEARHEADS NATION TO RECOVERY AS RESPONSIBILITY SHIFTS TO CITIZENS Story: Dragon Visuals: Kementerian Kesihatan MalaysiaMalaysia experienced the lowest number of COVID-19 cases since the start of MCO with just 7 new cases reported today. Two were imported cases while the rest were locally transmitted. All involved Malaysian citizens. Of the 5 locally transmitted cases, 1 was from Kuala Lumpur with 2 from Selangor and Sabah each. Only 1 case involved a staff of the Immigration Detention Depot (DTI) cluster in Bukit Jalil, while the rest were sporadic cases and were not connected to any particular clusters. The two imported cases involved Malaysians who had returned from Egypt and India, and who were residents of Selangor and Melaka. This takes the cumulative total of infections to 8,329. Twenty patients were discharged today leaving 1,518 still undergoing treatment, with 6 in ICU and 1 on a respirator. Thankfully no deaths were reported. With the Recovery Movement Control Order (#RMCO) taking over from the CMCO on Wednesday, 10th June 2020, greater responsibility of curbing the pandemic shifts to the citizens of Malaysia. Their collective action in sticking to all proposed SOPs will determine whether a second #COVID-19 wave will occur.
