COVID-19 Status Update (5.00 pm, 9/5/2020)
MORE COVID-19 CASES INVOLVING MIGRANT WORKERS CONTINUE TO SURFACE

Several clusters mostly involving migrant workers contributed to the 54 new COVID-19 cases recorded today. 28 more cases were recorded from the recently announced Pedas cluster and another 9 weres recorded from the Setia Alam construction site cluster which was revealed only yesterday. Headline making Cheras Security Guard cluster saw another 2 new cases, with 2 more recorded at the Chow Kit and KL Construction Site clusters each. In Sarawak, the Kuching Healthcare Workers' cluster saw an increase of 2 new cases. The rest of the clusters did not register any new cases with the total number of active clusters standing at 33. Only one case was recorded involving a Malaysian traveller returning from abroad.
On a positive note, 65 cases were discharged today with active cases currently being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals nationwide standing at 1,552. Of these, 18 are in ICU with 6 on respirators.
Unfortunately, another fatality was reported today. The deceased was a 74-year-old woman who has also suffered from an autoimmune disease, thyroid disease and hypertension. She passed away at the Melaka Hospital on 8th May 2020 at 11.23 pm. She was first admitted on 29th March 2020. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved.
Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak & Kelantan have now been declared green zones, with Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Johore and Sarawak still in the red.
