UNIMAS & Citrine One Release TENANGLAH (27/3/2020)
UNIMAS & CITRINE ONE COME TOGETHER FOR ALL MALAYSIANS WITH TENANGLAH DESPITE MCO
News Release: Citrine One (Jane Goh) Compiled & Edited By: Dragon
The Movement Control Order (MCO) is not a hindrance to Malaysians from the East and West to come together to calm the soul in the time of Covid-19.
Although hand-holding is strongly discouraged through the imposition of social distancing, UNIMAS Faculty of Language and Communication students and lecturers worked with their alumni from a crisis communications specialist agency in Kuala Lumpur, Citrine One Sdn Bhd, to produce an emotionally moving song dedicated to all Malaysians who are obeying the MCO and the frontliners who are working tirelessly to curb the outbreak.
“We would like the song, Tenanglah (means ‘be calm’ in English) to provide a kind of reassurance to all Malaysians who are fighting this pandemic war together in insolation.
“It’s a challenging time and people, especially the frontliners and patients are separated from family and friends. We are all fighting this war that we must win,” said UNIMAS Faculty of Language and Communications Senior Lecturer Khadijah Mohamad Tuah.
Glad that her team at Citrine One volunteered for this project, Founder & Managing Director Ivlynn Yap said that the music video was completed in less than five days.
She said that the team leveraged their personal networks through Whatsapp to reach out to Nana, a Malaysian poet who agreed to volunteer her time to write the lyrics and Zoe Wong, a budding music composer to compose the tune also on a pro-bono basis.
“We then provided content direction for the song and step-by-step guide to all the singers to record their parts from wherever they are with only their mobile phone, laptop and earphone. The turnaround time was about a day and a half and our video editor took another day to mix the sounds and put the video together!
“It’s amazing how ordinary Malaysians who are obeying the MCO in Johor, Kuching Kuala Lumpur and even the United States of America can collaborate to produce something soul-stirring.
“Observing how these individuals worked together in isolation, gives me renewed hope that we Malaysians, can win this fight if we persevere and obey the MCO. Tenanglah,” she added.
