Super Diva Season 7 Malaysian Search 2020
“Super Diva” which is widely known in China as ”Mama-Mia”, is the no. 1 ranked TV reality show in Shanghai. This programme first premiered in 2013 in China to develop greater self-confidence, self-development and selfawareness.
From juggling to dancing, singing to playing an instrument, catwalk and to design clothes – whatever your talent, the sky is the limit. casting opportunities regardless of their age, style, location, background or measurements - only one rule - they are mothers. The reality show showcases mothers from home or abroad, with any form of talent to stand a chance of winning the title. It’s a show of confidence and optimism - show for mothers to not lose their 'individualism.'
The show in China was such a hit with mothers who even related their personal experiences of being a mother, that it drew more than 100 million viewers with the highest playback of 34.8mil times and attracting 2.4 billion viewers from Weibo.
It was such a success that the producers and the celebrity judges - TV presenter Cheng Lei, actress Hu Ke and Taiwan singer Jerry Huang expressed that it was time that the show's prefinal talent search was held in other countries to attract mothers to participate. Executive Producer of SUPER DIVA, Zhang Jin said, "We saw the success and the remarkable tenacity of mothers to achieve and to grow not only for themselves but for their family that we decided to expand our search to Malaysia. We also like to thank Ocean Star especially Zhou Qian and Chilla Cha who believed in SUPER DIVA, an entertaining reality talent show and a show that pays tribute to mothers."
Season 6 saw thousands contesting for the show and 3 remained in the finals. Season 6's 1st runner up was Lee Nan Nan from Shandong. China who is a former Olympic champion and 2nd runner up, Ren Jia Kei from Shanxi, China who is a disabled paralysis contestant.
SUPER DIVA season 6th (2019) winner and champion is non other than our very own Chilla Cha. A mother of 2 who almost gave up singing as she had lost her voice. Her husband was and is her No.1 fan who not only encouraged her but supported her every step to regain her self-esteem and succeed. The contest not only saw Chilla emerge as the champion but brought back her confidence. As the reigning winner and knowing first-hand knowledge and experience on the positive changes it brought to her and her family, she felt Malaysian mothers should also have the same opportunity to showcase their talents. "I felt down, lost hope of ever being able to sing again, which made me lose confidence in myself, but my husband and children gave me the courage and confidence to keep trying, I did it for my children so I can show them you must never give up your hopes and dreams."
"It is definitely a great platform for mothers to share their stories and to achieve their dreams. I believe we can inspire more women through this talent show. I would also want to encourage all mothers out there especially in Malaysia, not to give up when times are bad and do not underestimate yourself. As long there’s a will, there is always a way to achieve the best of ourselves.”, said Cha.
Zhou Qian of Ocean Star Culture Media said, “It is our commitment to help these ladies and to polish their talents to be able to compete in the international stage in China. I hope that Malaysian men will encourage their wives to join. I also would like to thank Dragon TV for trusting in us to deliver some talents from Malaysia."
“The search is also open to all Malaysian women regardless of their ethnic groups as long as they are able to converse in Mandarin. The objective to build confidence among the mommies remain priority and to be able to bring the stage here is definitely exciting”, Zhou added.
SUPER DIVA Season 7 (Malaysian search), is co-organised by Ocean Star Culture Media Sdn Bhd and Cheung Sheng Group and will take place from February 2020 and the search is expected to run for 3 months. It will entail auditions, workshops for training, grooming, rehearsals and on-stage performances. As the reigning 2019 SUPER DIVA Champion and a Malaysian, Chilla Cha will be their mentor to guide, assist and advise all contestants.
Auditions start in February 2020 to April 2020. 6 semi finalists will be selected to perform in China (Semi finals will be held in China). There is No registration fee and the organisers will cover all costs of the 6 semi finalists to perform in China. It is open to all Malaysian women (who are mothers), irrespective of race and physical challenges - but the performers must be able to converse in Mandarin.
