Malaysia's iconic band Search officially launched their 30th Anniversary "Fenomena" Vinyl LP. at Fenomena Music's Record Store Day 2019 event in Plaza Damas on 13th April 2019.
Officiating the launch were Search's phenomenal bassist Nasir Daud and Fenomena Music's CEO & Founder Datuk Ahmad Zaharul. The new 30th Anniversary Limited Editon Black Cover German pressed 180g red vinyl release of Fenomena will be available exclusively at Fenomena Music.
Search regarded by Malaysian rock fans as the greatest rock band in Malaysia was formed in Melaka in 1981 by founding members Yazid Ahmad (drums), Hillary Ang (guitar), Memek (bass guitar replaced by Naasir Daud), and Zainal (vocals, replaced by Suhaimi Abdul Rahman). The group has gone through many line-up changes throughout its career, but the songs and music have remained evergreen and unique among Malaysian and Singaporean fans. To date, they have released twenty studio albums, a number of live, compilation and joint (with Wings) albums.
Also unveiled was Search's "Karisma" German pressed blue vinyl LP gift set which comes with a T-Shirt and tote bag. Only 200 of these sets were made available for the collector's market.
Fenomena, their fourth studio album and their first under BMG Pacific was originally recorded at Gins Studio, Jakarta; and King's Studio, Kuala Lumpur in 1989. The 10-track hit album, initially released in cassette format (and in CD format in 1990), was produced by M. Nasir and featured their megahit "Isabella", which won the group an Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) award for Best Song in 1989. It sold more than 220,000 copies in Malaysia and over 700,000 in Indonesia. The group was also awarded the Most Popular Group by Berita Harian in the same year. Other popular hits from the album include "Pawana" and "Fenomena". The iconic album was digitally remastered and re-released as "Fenomena 2003" in 2003.
It was followed up by "Karisma", their second studio album under BMG Pacific, which was also produced by M.Nasir. "Karisma" was completely recorded, mixed and mastered digitally, giving it a superior sound to previous recordings. It sold more than 170,000 copies in Malaysia in 1991. The 11-track album was remastered by Edrie Hashim, also in 2003.
