Showman extraordinaire.
First and foremost, this was a very unique experience for me; to be able to watch a concert on a surf beach, literally standing at the bottom of a very large swimming pool! Kudos to Sunway Lagoon for hosting at such a unique venue.
Moving on …. YES …. Eason Chan’s Moving On Stage 26 Concert was the last leg of his world tour concert. Two big screens at both sides of the stage flashed through all his 25 concerts around the world. He sang around 28 songs and a further 7 songs during his encore. The guest performers who opened the show for the night were Suki and Manhand.
There was a volcano eruption before Eason came out dressed in all white and sang his opening song, K Go Zi Wong. I think everyone loved the energetic super hot medley of songs (from Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok, Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Leslie Cheung & Alan Tham) which Eason did with high energy dance moves that worked up the crowd which was estimated to be about 8,000.
Eason is warm, down to earth and also comical in his interaction with fans and he even spoke a little Malay using phrases like “Selamat Datang” and “Di Larang Merokok”. Midway through the concert, he was sweating profusely and asked the crowd how to say hot in Malay. He said that he was so hot that he felt like taking off his pants and the crowd roared their approval and encouragemed him to do so. Of course Eason was just fooling around and no wadrobe malfunction actually took place that night.
The charismatic Eason took time to introduce and thank all his musicians, dancers and crew. He even sang a birthday song to his band leader, Gary, whose birthday was on the same day as the concert. Gary was so touched that he couldn't hold back his tears. Eason teased him and gave him another big hug. Eason showed that he really appreciated them a lot. Most of them have been with him since the very first concert and we could really see the bonding and closeness that Eason has with them.
Eason even spoke out about saving the environment and mentioned that everyone should do something to save the world for the future generations. He then paid tribute to Michael Jackson by singing “Heal The World”.
His last song was “Yi Wo Sheung Joi” and immediately after that, fireworks exploded into the night. The magnificent fireworks lasted for about 5 minutes and while we were all gazing up and were enthralled by the beauty of the fireworks, Eason and his crew quietly left the stage.
It was three hours of great singing and energetic dancing from a very talented artiste and I am already looking forward to his next concert - he mentioned that he would be back to “disturb” us again!
