By CHRISTINA LOW
THE remaining finalists of the reality talent search programme One In A Million on 8TV took time out from their hectic schedule to help raise funds and meet their fans at the BHPetrol’s Meet & Fuel Up Charity Drive, recently.
More than 40 children from Rumah Aman in Shah Alam and Rumah Hope in Petaling Jaya attended the event, which was graced by the five finalists, Alif, Azfar, Faizal, Farah and Suki, while Dayang was unable to attend.
The singers with BHPetrol management team attended to customers by helping them to fill up their cars and cleaning the windscreen.
Some of the customers were surprised when the singers greeted and attended to them personally.
Dressed in matching bright orange apron, they also took the opportu- nity to sign autographs, sing for the customers and obliging the fans’ requests.
They later performed two songs each together with the orphans from both homes.
“I have not watched the show be-fore but I would next week,” said Mahandran G. Krishnan after Azfar cleaned the mirrors of his motorcycle.
While for Alif, it was his first time filling petrol for a lorry twice his height.
“I have filled up cars before but it is my first time filling up a big lorry,” said the 16-year-old from Petaling Jaya.
BHPetrol LPG general manager Kan-diah Subramaniam presented mock cheques of RM 5,000 each for the homes.
The company is also the programme’s main sponsor.
Earlier, the finalists were given the honour to flag-off about 70 motor-cycles that took part in the Bikers Treasure Hunt at Royale Bintang Damansara that ended at BHPetrol Sungai Kayu Ara station.
One In A Million is the first local talent search reality programme that allows viewers to vote in and vote out their favourite and least likeable contestants.
Also present at the event were Rumah Aman principal Abdul Rahman Dakri, Rumah Hope director Alice Paul, BHPetrol managing director Tan Kim Thiam and BHPetrol staff.
