Lim Chee Wei (Chee Wei)
Date of Birth: 18 May 1986, 22 years old
Place of Birth: Kuala Lumpur
Education: Bachelor of Honours in Performing Arts (current) Occupation: Student, national squad cheerleader and cheerleading captain and cheerleading choreographer and coach Type of Dancer: Contemporary and lyrical jazz
What are your reasons for joining So You Think You Can Dance?
I am a huge fan of SYTYCD ever since its first debut in the US. It was my biggest dream to participate in it. My other reason would be that it's the biggest ever dance competition in Malaysia and perhaps even in the world. I would love to work with awesome choreographers and get to meet and work with super talented people in the industry.
Have you ever entered any similar competition? If yes, what are they and what are your accomplishments in the competition?
No.
Do you have any dance idols?
Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Leng Poh Gee, Steve Goh,
Judimar Hernandez and Elaine Pedley.
How long have you been dancing?
I have been dancing ever since kindergarten but never seriously. I only started taking classes when I was 17 years old. My real dance training only started when I entered University of Malaya which was since the month of July in the year 2006. So in all, I've only danced for 2 years.
What interest you to take up dancing?
I love being on stage. The adrenaline rush sensation is something I crave for. When I'm dancing I really feel like I am in another universe. I love the creative process and being a person that is not so good with words, the only way to touch people is through my dancing. I want to share with them the beauty of the human body and what we are capable to do with it. I want to
express the artistic side of me and I want to entertain people and to proof to Malaysians that I can dance too.
How far do you see yourself in this competition?
I see myself going a long way and as they say seeing is
believing. I believe and I am ready for anything. I have the
confidence and I'll do what it takes to become Malaysia's
favourite dancer.
What are your hopes and goals?
To go as far as I can in dance and now I am aiming for Top 10.
