Hooking Up With Miles Away @ Cowboy Bar & Rainforest Lodge, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (24/4/11)
CRISS CROSSING SOUTH EAST ASIA MILES AWAY FROM HOME
Story & Photos: Dragon
A taste of local seafood from "Pasar Malam" had perked up the depleted band a little.
To say their South East Asia Tour was hectic would be an understatement. It was pretty damn chaotic! After all the band had to criss cross four cities in four days, travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur by bus, then flying off to Jakarta, returning to KL only to hop on a flight to Kota Kinabalu, then back again to KL, before heading south again to Singapore to catch a flight home to Perth.
Somehow the resilient band arrived just in the nick of time at all their tour destinations and managed to indulge their fans with a full on showcase throughout. And all this for very little money, even less fame and hardly any sleep. It takes a pretty hardcore band to do just that miles away from home, and Australian hardcore punk band Miles Away who hail from Perth, is just that kind of band. Thankfully they had resounding fan support in all four cities, which kept them focused, driven and energised throughout their recent tour.
Rentak Sejuta, was fortunate to have caught up with the band in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, during their stint there. Due to our tight schedule in Kota Kinabalu, we missed their KK gig, arriving at Cowboy Bar when the band had just wrapped up their set, after playing to a tremendous reception by local fans, Thanks to the most welcoming of organisers H.A.T.I. Records, we managed to secure some chat time with the band, at their hotel, later that night.
Full story and more photos coming up.
