WL I almost completely agree with u.. but i wish 1st & 2nd to be interchangeable Dear Samurai Jack, where is your review??? Want to see my favourite review coz u always spot on... Well, here's my take anyhow - I must admit I wasn't able to appreciate aka 'see' all the dance move properly as was standing at the corner and this being the first time I'm attending life show there's really TOO many things to take in! Anyhow like i said I agree with WL. Love love the appreciation of Sue and IZ's indian dance - it was truly a work of art like Ramli said. I feel that both of them played their part really well. As for Firul and Brancy, it was really great watching two of them, and they totally made the birds fly... this two couple i want to say betul betul menjiwai the characteristic and the dance!!!! It was so soulful! I also think that due to Firul and Brancy's physiques differences (heights), it added on an edge to their performance - making Brancy appear the more vulnerable and eccentuate even more her feminity.... it was really great! Dennis and Becky did a fair and powerful performance. The 'stunts' were great to watch but didn't really 'feel' them as did the aforemention. When Nikki and Yuz came on stage, I was really surprise to see Nikki OOZING FEMINITY this time!!! No more talk bout Nikki not 'girly' enough last night!! They too carried the dance well. Alam and noor's take on chinese dance.. first want to say.. noor look so 'chun li' like in street fighter! Was it intentional? Anyhow it seems that the two have problem interpreting the emotion of this dance thus there's just this 'girang' expression on the face.. which is common in chinese cultural dances.. but i think for this competition more is needed so I was disappointed. The moves etc was good but the conveying of emotion wasn't sufficient. Then there was the indian contemp/bollywood - first of all, Jo had a wardrobe malfunction and probably had panicked both she and Jimmy... and then the dance started.. I just don't feel it.. especially the bangra part - again both also smiley face but there's no depths to that performance. OK to the judges - I'm glad Pat stuck to his opinion despite the booing... Judi was so cute.. especially during the commercial break trying to get the Fly fm people attention when they were distributing the free stuff Wat's with Ramli's hair? Why make so 'aunty' like... it doesn't suit him Yannus' outfit is a bit on the plain side but haiz.. he so hot wear anything also 'yeng chai'... Surprise no 1: Jehan Miskin as host - like him. He did good for first time. Don't like the voice, but presenting style good. Also he knows how to engage the judges when it was commentary was warranted. Surprise no 2: Bottom 6 - is this 8tv's scam to get more votes/sms? It is not good - I had 3 favourites there and it really distracted my attention... had to divide them votes to 3... thus the power of our sms also sort of go down... sad sad sad surprise no 3: Switching partner - with iz's departure I suspect that would happen as sue's really too tall to be paired with jimmy. Didn't expec that everyone else also switch... kesian kesian kesian... but hopefully will create new chemistry in the up coming show also. I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to dragon for getting me them tickets - it was really memorable Wanna thank Suraya, sue's mom also for getting us in with her extra VIP tix... or else we might've waited for even longer... Regrets - not taking photo/talk to Yannus... so shy... Will comment on Juliana in the thread dedicated to her.

episode 9's over guys. the Top 10 finalists are here. but has it (epi.9) really over? i have the feeling that this episode's not going to be over and will be hotly discussed in this forum until the next episode comes. after being fed with series of pleasent and unpleasent surprises, not to mention loads of emotional moments, i'd say episode 9 is the most dramatic episodes ever. first, the appearance of guest host Jehan Miskin. second, the weird choreographies. third, the shocking Bottom 6. fourth, the elimination of Isaac. and finally, the shuffling of dance partners for Top 10 finalists.
anyway, i'm not going to go to all 'surprise' elements here. what i'm going to write is more to the review of what's happening on the stage, focusing on the performances and the dancers.
i want to go to my favourite performance first. most of my friends were thrilled and fell in love with the Chinese contemporary piece delivered by Brancy-Firul. as for me, i was mesmerised and touched by Sue-Isaac beautiful presentation in their Indian comtemporary. their performance was more like a 'storytelling session' to me, and their love tale had really captured my emotion. i honestly think that last night was Isaac's best performance compared to all previous ones. being a great partner, Sue complemented Isaac in everyway and everytime, all the way when they're both performing on stage. both of them managed to exude such strong emotion and passion and it certainly had touched my very heart. mysterious, tensed passion, sincerity, sorrowness, undying love. everything rolled into one. if possible, i want to watch that again and again and again! it is very sad to see Isaac left the show last night. for me, he is a technically and physically capable dancer, with good potential in it. it's a lost to SYTYCD to have constentant as strong as Isaac to walk away from the competition. in my opinion, he deserves to stay in competition a little while longer.
my second favourite piece is of course Brancy-Firul's routine. like what Judimar said, they were both looked like two eagles soaring in the sky. amazing choreography, amazing deliverence by both Brancy and Firul. great synchronisation in terms of physical execution and timing. beautiful song. however, i was expecting more from Firul actually. Brancy did overshine Firul quite a lot last night, being a much more technically stronger dancer herself. Firul could've solved this problem by putting a little bit extra effort in executing certain moves so that he'll be at par with Brancy. their liftings were good, the connections between both parties were there though sometimes Firul did lost it. however, to sum it all, it was a connecting performance by both Brancy-Firul, and it would even more WOW if Firul did slightly better from what he did last night. well done.*smiles*
my third favoured presentation was by the chocolate king and queen, Becky-Dennis. Azwa has never failed to impress me with his awesome works. and so far, i'd say only Azwa gave constant and stedy deliverance when it comes to choreographing. he's just amazing. both Becky and Dennis pulled the Malay contemporary choreography very nicely. well done chocolate queen, for impressing me with your silat movements throughout the show! Dennis was being overshadowed almost all the time by Becky's strong movements. at times, Becky did look physically stronger than Dennis as they both performing silat movements together. all in all, it was good job done by the choco duo, especially Becky. hey Dennis, remember - practice, practice, practice!! competition's getting tougher dude. you gotta show more of what you got to win our hearts!*wink*
following the above, my next favoured routine was also by Azwa, and done by the cilipadi duo, Yuz-Nikki. Yuz did great. he IS the quiet contender whom everybody should look out for in this competition. he may be quiet, but he's very talented. he did just exactly as what i had expected from him in his performance. Nikki on the other hand didn't perform as good as her dance partner. Nikki has this sheer innocent persona and it really helped her in her performance last night. but expressions and personas are not going to rescue her next time if she doesn't improve her techniques. apparently, breaking did give her more upperbody strength than her lowerbody. her legs did flail (very minor but successfully detected by my superhero eyesight) at least twice when Yuz lifted her up. i don't think it's the choreography *scratches head*.. at first i thought i imagined it, but when i saw the same thing happened twice (at least), i knew it wasn't done on purpose. and because of this, their timing looked slightly off for mere split second or two, but both managed to catch up again and continued with their performance. it was an okay job, and could've been better with few improvements.
the second worse routine of the night must go to the 'two-dimensional' performance (quoting Ramli Ibrahim) in the Chinese contemporary. I was like, WTF? (excuse my French uptownD)... what's with choreography man?? it seemed like the choreographer had put too much emphasis, elements and maybe focus in the first chory that she was left with nothing but the terrible boxstep moves (it appread FOUR times ok!) for the perfect couple, Noor-Alam. i was so dissapointed after i watched their performance, and for me the chory didn't give them justice at all. what's with the BOXSTEP moves??? and the poses used were exactly the same! the pose at the beginning of the routine was precisely the same pose that ended the routine! that's why i wasn't surprised to see both Alam and Noor in Bottom 6. it wasn't fair for the but the chory was extremely bad! i TOTALLY BLAME THE APPALLING TWO-DIMENSIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY. it sucked big time.
the worst performance of all would be none than other, the terrible attempt to do contemporary Banghra by the Double J, Jimmy-Joe. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. it's like watching a repeat show but only in different discipline, after the horrifying Chinese contemporary by Alam-Noor. you could actully see the 'stir the pot' moves done like FOUR times in this routine! why on earth did the choreographers (both for Chinese and India) did hideous jobs in their second creation? too much effort done in the first one, wasn't it? that shouldn't be the case! you're jeoperdising the dancers position in the competition with your unacceptable choreographies! and the dancers were not making it better either. Jimmy was being his old self again, making the same mistake of not letting go while he's dancing. i expected him to do better but it seemed like Jimmy's gone back to square one, thus the same comment by the judges. the same old tightness, the same old tension, the same old lack of this and that. i have to agree with the judges. Jimmy didn't perform well last night. as for Jo, i'm glad that finally somebody from the judges' seat (in this case Pat Ibrahim) finally said what i've been saying all these times about Jo. she has obvious problem with moving on the right tempo. i noticed this from the night she performed with Shake. her offbeat habit certainly drag her to the Bottom 6 list. and i have to agree with the final result, it's time for Jo to go. it's been a long and fruitful journey to Jo. but time has come for Jo to give up her space to other deserving contestants to proceed to the next round. as for Jimmy, he's very lucky to have strong group of supporters. i hope Jimmy can show us more of his capabilities next time.
i have to say, among all male contestants in Bottom 6 last night, if judging based on last night's performances and the dancers' improvement, i would put Jimmy in the elimination seat.
Isaac did an exceptionally good job, in fact in my humble opinion, last night was his best performance compared to his previous one (yes, i love last night's performance MORE than his Samba Belachan ha ha).
as for Alam, he's improved a lot and his qualities are getting better each time he performs. it's been an impressive growth for him. nothing can be done in Noor-Alam's Chinese contemporary dance as there's nothing there to be impressed anyway. it's not his fault that he's in Bottom 6.
but Jimmy boy..*sigh*...you gotta improve my man. that's all i gotta say. you HAVE to improve. you've been doing the same mistake all over again. i might think twice before i vote for you next time (should you be in Bottom lists again in future).
that's all folks. just a piece of old mungo's opinion.

hah!! tu dia eh, mungo punya piece.... way to go!!!
definitely agree with you on Jimmy's performance... voted for him last nite based on his past performances... no improvement next week, no vote man... he kinda somehow, doesn't know how to 'work' and 'co-operate' with the partner... you can see when he is dancing in a group, he excel so much.... he is 'stand-alone' dancer... but he dissapoint me on his solo performance as well.. as UptownD use to say, it's redemption time... that's nothing man... i know its a bit harsh, but you have to give your supporters something to hold on to....
As for Jo, it's so obvious you were the weakest among all girls last nite... even Noor's simple moves were much better than your 'banghra'.... your beat was all over the place... as MJ said, other girls deserve that top 5 spot more than you... all the best for you outside there k...
