13th Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival 2019 @ Covered Tennis Court, Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (2 & 3/8/19)
Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival (KKJF) is an annual fund raising jazz extravaganza jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) and the Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS). Staged in the picturesque Nature Resort City of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the jazz festival brings together a musical melting pot of talents from around the world. KKJF recorded a crowd of over 4,000 people during the two –night performance.
The festival is on its eighth edition this year every since it was started in 2007. For 2016, the festival will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of July this year from 7pm to 11pm. For the days leading up to the two-night event, a series of fringe events and the much-anticipated KKJF Jazz Stars have been planned.
The festival is a fund-raising event. Money raised from ticket sales is used to fund deserving community projects run by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu. Past projects funded by the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival include the clean water project to the villager, literacy program, Avoidable Blindness Campaign, environment protection program, Free medical services to rural communities, initiate the development of the community’s cottage industry, building of boarding home for rural children.
The KK jazz Festival is now a signature event in Sabah’s annual calendar of events and Tourism Malaysia, and is also a key component of the Kota Kinabalu Arts Festival.

Spicing it up in fusion rock with a hint of funk and RnB, the music of these established artists and musicians has reached international audiences, each in their sphere of influence.
Calypsoul
Selected also from the KK jazz Talent Search. This band of 6 members making up of passionate music students, led by Gavin will leave the crowd mesmerized.
Lawalah
Selected from this year KK Jazz Talent Search, Lawalah founded by Victor Din Hatt and the bands consist of 6 members from the Sabah Institute of Arts ‘s Music Department.
Jamstation
Four of Tawau’s finest, most active and long-time musicians, this band have sessioned for numerous well-known Malaysian artists as well as playing at weddings and corporate events around Sabah.
Sunrise Assemble

Nailing it at the recent KK Jazz Talent Search, this band definitely proved their remarkable stage-presence. Trained by Professor Hanafie Mohd Imam, a Berklee College of Music graduate, this great ensemble will wow you with their undeniable talent.
Q Sound
A jazz-funk band led by Q Sound, also known as Marque Yong, who is a versatile and dynamic trombonist, bandleader and composer from New York.
Xhanghai Divas
Combining the immense talents and beauty of Yuii Chan and Tan Yee Yee, the duo fills a void in the music scene yearning for something new apart from the commercial Shanghai Jazz. They sing, harmonise and dance as musical sisters reimagining the glitz and glamour of old
Take 2
TAKE 2 are a guitar and percussion duo with Jonathan Tse on vocal/guitar and Peter Lau on percussion/handsonic. They cover a wide range of music, jazzing up originals and covering evergreen tracks. Peter Lau started playing the drum at the very age. He is also known as the

Our very own Sabahan Blues man – Sonny Bahari will be hosting combo jam session with some of the festival’s skilled performers.

SWAG is a big band consist of local music enthusiasts who wish to pursue music as their hobby. Therefore, the band is setup with the vision of producing more local amateur jazz players in the future time, which focus to the winds players of the band. On
