MALAYSIA'S FIRST INFLUENCERS AWARDS A GLITTERING SUCCESS

The Top 100 Influencers Star Awards, Malaysia's very first influencers' awards was staged in a well-attended gala night at the Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
The awards which recognises the contributions of existing and rising new influencers in the industry saw the participation of 76 Malaysian influencers, bloggers and opinion leaders competing for honours. The inaugural event was organised by One Smart Star Malaysia, the developers of the fast-growing Star Phone App and co-organised with Kingsman Entertainment Production & JP Hallmark Development. It was presented by beauty product manufacturers Miss Laura, with Uplive Malaysia and 128 Event Management as event partners.
The event was attended by guest of honour Prof Datuk Dr Nik Mohd Zain Mohd Yusoff who acted as the representative for Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr Wan Azizah Binti Wan Ismail, who was unable to attend. Also attending was Dato' Dr Ahmad Abdul Ghapar, Senior Director, Domestic & Events Division for Tourism Malaysia, who were presenting and sponsoring the Best Travel Influencer Star Award.
The main Best Influencer Star Award was won by Yang Bao Bei, snapping RM 10,000 in cash and prizes, while Munmun Wong and Samantha Goh came in second and third for RM 5,000 and RM 3,000 in cash and prizes respectively.
The Most Iconic Star Award with cash & prizes worth RM 10,000 was won by Kate Chng. Taking second and third were Evon Rossa and Qian Xee with RM 5,000 and RM 3,000, in cash and prizes respectively.
The Best Travel Influencer Star Award went to Jacquelyn Cheah, earning her RM 2,000 in cash & prizes from the Ministry of Tourism & Culture of Malaysia. Her enthusiastic feature about a Ramadan bazaar in Putrajaya earned her the accolades. According to Dato' Dr Ahmad Abdul Ghapar, the selection process was challenging for his team considering the quality of entries that were submitted. In the end, three candidates were shortlisted, with the variance between the top three at just 1%. Evon Rossa took the runner up spot while Sharon Choi took the 2nd runner up spot, earning them TM 1,000 and RM 400, in cash and prizes respectively.
Top 100 Influencers Star Awards also proved that age was not a criterion, with the oldest candidate at 55, Zaidah Binti Mohd Ishak winning the Most Photogenic Star Award in the Beginner Influencer category. Zaidah, a mother of 5 and also a grandmother of 5, is a championship winning professional race car driver and building contractor. Newbies Bebe Wong and Selena Wong won the Most Iconic Star Award and Best Influencer Star Award in the Beginner Influencer's category respectively, earning themselves RM 2,000, in cash and prizes each.
Former flight attendant Evon Rossa from Ipoh won the Miss Laura Influencer Award from official presenter Miss Laura, earning herself RM 5,000 in cash & prizes. She also bagged the runner up awards in the Most Iconic Star and Best Travel Influencer categories, taking home three gold trophies in total.
Awards were also presented by sponsors Uplive Malaysia for the Best Talent Influencer Award and NowMe Malaysia for Nowme Influencer Star Award.
