Limkokwing University Shows Cultural Opulence to Close London Fashion Week 2019
Limkokwing University successfully closes London Fashion Week 2019 with a dazzling array of clothes featuring Malaysian traditional texture imbued with international flavors. The fourth collection for London Fashion Week 2019 from Limkokwing University’s student designers bowed out on Sunday, 17th February 2019, with a celebration reflecting the internationalism in Asia’s Most Globalize University.
Held at the stunning art décor, Freemasons Hall recognized faces in London’s fashion community, fashion editors, media, embassies, alumni, family and friends, were astonished by the inspiring collection. Among those on the guest list were representatives from UK brand Julien Macdonald, British Malaysian Association, and MATRADE.
This year, students and designers journey to London Fashion Week 2019 stage begins in 2018, when they sourced materials from their home countries to be build the garments. They went to countries such as Botswana, Lesotho, Indonesia, Iran, and of course, Malaysia, to find the right materials to inject into the collection.
The event was in partnership with Toni & Guy, Kryolan Make Up, along with Malaysian brands Wanderlust & Co. and Saadiah Aziz, who provided stunning Sabahan traditional accessories.
The University’s involvement is a continuation of presenting Asian and African cultures to a western audience. Since the first show in 2012, Limkokwing University has incorporated rich cultural prints from the countries, where the University’s campuses are located, to extravagant accessories and high – end looks to highlight the values of Asian and African cultures to a global audience.
For more than a decade Limkokwing University, under the tutelage and direction of Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, has showcase world-class collections in Osaka, Chengdu, Cambodia, Botswana, Jakarta, Paris, London, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and, of course, Malaysia.
Additionally, the garments created by alumni and student designers of Limkokwing University have received high acclaimed from Vogue UK, Harper’s Bazaar, Singapore Fashion Week.
Furthermore, clothes from “Date Night”, Limkokwing University’s 2018 London Fashion Week, was featured in the second season of American Beauty Star, a beauty competition featuring Beyonce’s makeup artist, Sir John and hosted by supermodel, Ashley Graham.
