Nor Natasha Suhaira Suhaimi, a 23 year old medical and hospital management undergraduate from MAHSA University was crowned Miss Malaysia Kebaya 2017 at the pageant's Grand Finale in KL Tower, last night, while Marianny Ismail, a geologist in the oil and gas industry and a mother of two, was crowned Mrs Kebaya Malaysia 2017. Both deserving winners are from Kuala Lumpur.
Clear winner and crowd favourite Natasha aspires to open and run her own hospital in order to help the needy. The go-getter vowed the judges with her confidence, clarity and determination, in pursuit of her ambitions, during the question and answer session, and would proudly exchange her white coat for a white kebaya when she makes her hospital rounds. Proud of her achievements, Marianny who works on an oil rig as the only women among 200 over men, would be glad to wear her kebaya out at sea, but under her overalls (for safety reasons).
Taking the runner's up spot in the "Miss" category was elegant 27 year old lawyer Amrit Kaur Dhillon from Selangor, while a bubbly Nur Balqis Ibrahim, a 20 year old student from Kelantan, secured the second runner's up spot.
The "Mrs" category also saw lanky Simran Kour Jaspal Singh, a 28 year manpower supply manager from Selangor breezing into the second runner's up spot while Sandra Lee Pei Pei, a vibrant 40 year old sales & marketing manager from Melaka making it to the second runner's up spot.
The fourth edition of the annual culturally oriented pageant was organised by the Miss Malaysia Kebaya Organsiation, under the leadership of experienced pageant organiser Jason Hee Jee Pin, and is supported by Tourism Malaysia. This year's grand finale was held 288 metres above ground level at the Megaview Banquet Hall in KL Tower, making it one of the highest ever held beauty pageant in the region.
