MUZIK MALAYSIA, A UNIQUE TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY THAT HIGHLIGHTS INDUSTRY ICONS

Tujuh Warisan Sdn Bhd, a local production company owned and operated by experienced musicians and music educators Ray Lee Voon Leong and Eizaz Azhar are set to unleash a documentary series that focuses on the icons of the music industry in Malaysia. The 26 episode "Muzik Malaysia", an original concept program by the musically passionate pair is expected to air on Bernama TV (BNC) on Astro 502 early next year.
The documentary is executive produced by Eizaz Azhar, a former electronics engineer turned musician who is highly regarded in the local jazz circles. Eizaz who is also musicpreneur, runs the popular Guitar Empire instrument retailer/distributor and Mama Treble Clef music school with his business partner Ray, and is currently completing his MBA at the Asia School of Business (ASB) in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with MIT Sloan. Aspiring filmmaker Ray Lee, a graduate of the Trinity College of Music in London, is a certified director with the Film Directors' Association Of Malaysia (FDAM) and also the Deputy President of the Putrajaya Music Community, directs the documentary. Ray who hails from Miri, Sarawak, recently released his well received Iban language feature film titled "Dendam Gadang".

"Muzik Malaysia" introduces and focuses on the life and lifestyles, the glory days and the awards and accolades of iconic and legendary musicians and singers and also the trendsetting younger ones, that have been and are championing the local music industry over the years. The program is also designed to acknowledge and show appreciation to the artistes contributions to the industry they love and cherish.
Among the artistes that will be featured in the documentary are a healthy and diverse mix of newer and veteran artistes, such as Rosli Mohalim, Ani Maiyuni, Oney, Juzzthin, W.A.R.I.S., Farawahidah, Zue Eda, Linda Rafar, Amy (XPDC). Nik (Putra), Desire, Hatta (Junction), Mac Rahayu, Yabang (Khalifah), Syura, Ezza Lazim, Shida, Dato' Nassier Wahab, Asfan, Jimmie,(Screen), Mus (May) and Dato' Mokhzani Ismail. The featured artistes represent various genres such as dangdut, pop, rock and more, share their experiences, knowledge and development in their quest to become stars and household names in the Malaysian music industry, in the much awaited program that aims to create industry awareness and also educate the rising new stars and hopefuls who want to pursue a future in the music industry.
The documentary series was filmed in and around Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Each 30-minute episode will have interview sessions and music performances from the featured artistes together with the program hosts, and will also include music video clips from the artistes' albums. "Muzik Malaysia" is funded and supported by the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) under the Creative Industry Development Fund (DPIK).
