Jo-el & LeAnne Ulmer, the husband/wife, traditional country music duo sing all your favorite traditional country music hits made famous by legends. Jo-el’s voice can sound just like his legendary and living heroes of country music. Their duo name came about when they auditioned for a Nashville-based reality country music competition and were told they were actually just “too country” and from that their fun duo name was formed. Joel is hard to miss with his signature pompadour hairstyle and his custom-made “Sparklecaster” bright orange guitar. LeAnne is a great completion to the duo with her matching sparkling orange tambourine and fun personality! Their love and passion for one another is visible on and off stage as their eyes catch one another.
About 2Country4Nashville
Jo-el's been playing guitar since he was 12, and has been singing all his life. He grew up learning songs by the Beatles, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Roy Orbison, etc... Then later got really into the Blues of Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton & Stevie Ray Vaughn. Several years ago, at the urging of his adopted older Sioux brother Woody, he began really listening to and learning Traditional Country Music and has never looked back. The honesty & purity of the music, along with the sheer musicianship required to play it, really keep the music fresh, challenging &, above all, REAL!!
LeAnne didn't know much about Traditional Country Music before meeting Jo-el, but she's caught on quickly!! She had been in "The Band" while attending Franklin Jr. High & High School, and she had sang in Church & in a Gospel Quartet for several years. Jo-el convinced her that they should learn some of the old Country Duets of Conway & Loretta, George & Tammy, Johnny & June, & Porter & Dolly. They've quickly developed into one of the best and most entertaining Traditional Country Husband/Wife Duos in the area.

Ruby Boots - Australia
Ruby Boots, aka Australia’s sparky, truth-soaked alt-country troubadour Bex Chilcott. Flame-haired Ruby Boots’ bold and unafraid music doesn’t hide from what she wants and doesn’t care who knows it. Just like the characters in her songs, where life and love are serious matters. For principal singer and songwriter Bex Chilcott its all drive, and the coarse edges of raw musical passion haven’t been buffed off, but embraced as her music rings more true to herself than ever. Her somewhat cowboy mouth rolls out banter with the heart-warming charm of a drunken Irishman.
About Ruby Boots
Ruby Boots bold and unafraid music doesn't hide from what she wants and doesn't care who knows it. Just like the characters in her songs where life, love and the rough handed scratching of a person's most primal itch are serious matters - it's a case of get on board or get out of the way. It’s all drive, and the coarse edges of raw musical passion haven’t been buffed off by the industry, but embraced as her music rings more true to herself than ever. Her somewhat cowboy mouth rolls out banter with the heart warming charm of a drunken Irishman. This is not cookie cutter country music dressed for outback B&S balls. Ask her about such things and she'd likely suggest you should just remove the ampersand and you'd be close to the mark.
From the earliest days of late 2011 when the alt-country act has grown from being a band supporting the vision of principal singer and songwriter Bex Chilcott, to being a name on which to hang Chilcott's expansive music stylings. Subtraction and refinement has worked in her favour and proven growth in songwriting, growth in playing, growth in stage presence. 2014 was a year that saw Chilcott blossom with great show after great show and, as her latest material shows with impressive clarity, great song after great song. Mostly, though, it's been about having the courage to keep going, pushing yourself, and by extension anyone else brave enough to try and keep up, even if sometimes you are more guided by what you don't want rather than what you do.
"Great songs, great singer” - Marty Jones - Rhythms Magazine
“The incomparable Ruby Boots” Peter Barr – RTRFM
Ruby Boots, aka Australia’s flame-haired, truth-soaked alt-country troubadour Bex Chilcott, has now signed to Lost Highway Records Australia, just as she releases new single ‘Middle Of Nowhere’, co-written and with guest vocals by with Vikki Thorn (The Waifs), and recorded and produced with Tony Buchen (Tim Finn, The Preatures, Mama Kin).
The new single ‘Middle Of Nowhere’ was conceived following what was for Chilcott a slow burning journey to get to Utah on a writing trip with Vikki Thorn from The Waifs. The single is the impassioned precursor to Ruby Boots forthcoming debut album Solitude (due for public release in April 2015) featuring a slew of musicians that are staples in Australian Music today such as Davey Lane (You Am I), Jordie Lane and Vikki Thorn (The Waifs). Produced by Tony Buchen (The Preatures, Mama Kin) and Anna Laverty (Jae Laffer, Paul Dempsey) and Bill Chambers.
‘Middle Of Nowhere’ was directly inspired by Chilcott’s disarming introduction to joining Vikki in Utah.
Chilcott says: “I was tired, jetlagged, emotionally drained, and scared out of my wits - the latter mainly because I had no idea what I was walking into. I knew Vikki lived on an isolated farm in Utah somewhere, and that we were setting out to write a few songs, and that's where my knowledge ended. I hadn’t even bothered to find out an address and was nearly refused entry into the country at customs! After meeting my new, tiny-framed yet big-voiced friend Vikki in Salt Lake City, we drove to the farm - a drive that proved to be highly entertaining. In the final leg I succumbed to my jetlag daze and passed out, later waking up in the total darkness of the driveway on a very isolated property, about a twenty minute drive to the nearest sign of civilization (a lonely petrol pump).
"Welcome to the middle of nowhere" Vikki said.
“I quickly replied with all the false bravado I could muster, “That's going to be the name of the first song we'll write tomorrow”.
‘Middle Of Nowhere’ is a song that encapsulates its surroundings: written on a farm in the remote southern parts of Utah, you can hear the isolation and the space both sonically and lyrically. But the track delves deeper, diving into the dark corners of the unknown. It’s a song about bravery, facing fears and the pits and falls we all endure getting ‘there’ - and of course the reward of coming out the other end!
