The internationally-acclaimed show, Hip-Hoppin’ Asia is back with a renewed sense of adventure in a brand new season, Hip-Hoppin’ Asia: The Saga Continues, after raking in success with its first award-winning season in which Malaysian hip-hop artiste Joe Flizzow, met the people and cultures that have embraced this western genre and explored the power of its influence. This travelogue series bagged the Bronze Award at the 2013 Chicago International Film Festival Television Awards in the ‘Travel Series’ category, while on the local front the show received Best Videography and Best Editing at the prestigious Anugerah Skrin 2013.
In season 2, tag along with Malaysia’s very own hip-hop maestro, SonaOne, every Thursday at 9.30pm – 10.30pm beginning 28th May 2015 as he explores the best places to see, the best people to meet, the best things to do, and the best hip-hop experiences that Asia has to offer.
Sona One goes a little fast & furious in Mongolia?
As a talented producer, composer and lyricist, SonaOne will visit Mongolia, Lebanon, Korea, India, Cambodia, China, Singapore and Turkey to meet and collaborate with like-minded individuals, and along the way, explore the streets and music that make hip-hop relevant to the respective country. He shot to stardom after the hit Apa Khabar was crowned the winner at the 29th Anugerah Juara Lagu.
Making friends and sharing dreams in Lebanon.
Other than that, he learns to adapt and engage in each country's respective culture such as discovering the art of "khoomei” also known as throat singing, experiencing the “shadow puppet” show, attending a K-POP school to discover the secrets of becoming a star, learning to play the traditional two-stringed bowed instrument – Erhu, strolling along the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, visiting the Taj Mahal, skiing at majestic picturesque mountains of Faraya and taking a dip at the Pamukkale thermal pool.
“It was the overwhelming positive response we received in the previous season that inspired us to come back with a second season and explore the hip-hop culture in more Asian countries” said Airin Zainul, Group General Manager, Brand Management & Programming Group, 8TV & ntv7.
“Our audiences are always yearning for greater content and we believe that Hip-Hoppin’ Asia: The Saga Continues will serve as a world-class, dynamic content,” added Airin.
All about the Hip Hop, not K-Pop in Korea.
