The Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra joins Australian guest conductor Fabian Russell for a programme offering maximum listening pleasure. The main work on the programme is Elgar’s Enigma Variations – fourteen magnificent portraits in sound of the composer’s friends and relatives, plus a mysterious theme that runs through the work “but never appears,” according to Elgar. It has mystified the musical world for more than a century.
