Chillout 2nd Anniversary ft Spin Easy (USA) @ Aristo, Zouk Club, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur (5/10/14)
Time flies when you are having fun and Sunday have never been so amazing. We are so proud to be celebrating two years of memorable moments at Chillout Sundays featuring a very special guest Dj, Spin Easy, THE ABSOLUTE DJ-TAINER Spinning the hottest Dance Music (commercial and electro) around the globe.
About Spin Easy
Growing up in the Harlem – Heights section of Manhattan, from the age of 9, Spin learned how to play several instruments including the saxophone, violin and trumpet. Spin got the name Spin Easy from his days as a professional break-dancer / b-boy. He was featured in films, music videos and TV commercials, including participating in the battle scene for the original Hip-Hop movie “Beat Street” at the Roxy roller-skating rink.
Spin graduated from LaGuardia High School of the Arts in Manhattan where he met and shared classes with notables Carl Payne, Omar Epps, Jennifer Aniston and Mark Pitts. Spin then attended City College of New York to study Black Studies and Music. After City College, Spin logged thousands of hours in his recording studio producing, writing songs and doing vocal arrangements for a variety of New York City artists. He then worked as a multimedia producer at Russell Simmons’ website 360hiphop.com from 2000 to 2001. He then worked for BET.com until 2002. Thereafter he worked with KPMG in the national marketing center as a multimedia producer.
In 2003, Spin took a break from New York City to relocate to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he taught himself how to DJ and got several gigs spinning for nightclubs and private events. About a year later in Brazil, Spin got introduced to Snoop Dogg when Snoop was touring Brazil through AJ Calloway. He befriended Snoop Dogg and Papa, Snoop’s head of security by helping with translation duties and showing Snoop’s touring group the city. After staying in touch, Papa asked Spin to be a part of Snoop Dogg’s tour management team and was invited to Snoop’s Puff, Puff, Pass Tour in Europe in 2005. Spin served as assistant to the tour manager, production manager and accountant as well as Snoop’s personal assistant touring for 60 days through 20 countries.
Spin got the chance to be more than an assistant when Snoop Dogg was running late for a show in Colmar, France. The supporting acts finished their performances and Spin was at the venue early for dinner plans. The tour manager told Spin to DJ and kill time until Snoop gets to the venue. Spin hurriedly got his equipment up on stage and starting rocking the crowd of 11,000 people with the best in hip hop and R&B club anthems. At the height of the crowds’ excitement, Snoop Dogg showed up and noticed that Spin was really talented and invited Spin to open his shows for the rest of the tour as well as his shows in South Africa and Australia. Snoop’s generosity has helped propel Spin’s career making him one of the most sought after DJ’s.
Spin currently splits his time between NYC and Australia, touring 80 to 100+ shows per year across the globe. Spin is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish. He has residencies in some of the hottest clubs in the major city centers of the world including Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Salvador, Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Hobart, Winnipeg and Beijing.
