MUSICAL TO CURB "LGBT CULTURE"

Asmara Songsang, a musical theatre production, under the auspices of the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas, of the Ministry Of Information Communications & Culture, which is scheduled to be staged at the Lambang Sari, Istana Budaya in Kuala Lumpur on 1st & 2nd March 2013, aims to highlight the adverse effects and influences of the "LGBT culture" and its involvement in today's political scenario, with the hopes that's it message will educate and curb its spread on the general population. To the uninitiated the term LGBT refers to lesbians, gays, bisexuals & transexuals.
According to its director and scriptwriter, Rahman Adam, the musical is based on situations he has encountered in real life and in the current political climate, but is in no way aimed at anyone in particular. He further added that the musical focused on the actual life of LGBTs and the dark side of their activities which is not normally known to ordinary folks. Rahman said that he is ready to be criticized on this subject as long as the message gets across.
A short preview scene from the musical was acted out by the actual cast to the members of the media, at its official press launch at the Bilik Seri Nilam in Istana Budaya, yesterday afternoon.
The musical will feature three generations of actors that will include Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, Julia Ziegler, Kamal Adli, Radhi Khalid, Razak Ahmad, Najwa P. Ramlee dan Abby Rossidi, among others. Choreography and musical direction will be conducted by Dato' Suhaimi Md. Zin (Pak Ngah) and artistic direction will be by Lokman Ghani. The main presenter of the musical is Thrive:dition, a international business consultancy company. Admission to the musical is free.
