Sum 41 Live In Malaysia @ KL Live, Life Centre, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur (14/4/12)
When: 7.30pm, Saturday, 14th April, 2012
The rumours everyone’s been hearing is true as punk rockers Sum 41 will be heading to our Malaysian shores this coming April! Livescape presents another Special Rockaway Showcase featuring Sum 41 on 14 April at KL Live.
Following the cancellation of their debut performance at last year’s Rockaway Festival, Sum 41 is set to please their fans with their upcoming show here. Due to an unfortunate injury sustained by frontman, Deryck Whibley at one of their shows late last year, the band had to cancel the rest of their tour for the remaining of 2011.
Fans can rejoice as an injury free Sum 41 will be making their way to the country this coming mid-April. The punk rockers are nothing short of being one of the most iconic bands in the music scene since their inception in 1996. Sum 41 currently consists of members Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Tom Thacker (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason McCaslin (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Steve Jocz (drums).
They released their debut album, All Killer, No Filler in 2001 and achieved mainstream success with their first single from the album, ‘Fat Lip’, which reached number-one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and remains the band's most successful single to date. The band has since released four more studio albums: Does This Look Infected? (2002), Chuck (2004) Underclass Hero (2007) and Screaming Bloody Murder (2011).
Catch these iconic punk rockers in the flesh at KL Live with supporting acts, Bunkface and One Buck Short!
About Sum 41
Sum 41’s career has been filled with highlights that extend well beyond the traditional punk band cliché. They’ve collaborated with Iggy Pop, Ludacris, Tommy Lee, Rob Haldford, Tenacious D and were invited to tour with heavy metal legends Motley Crue when they reunited. Since 1996, Sum 41 has been relentless, unapologetic, and unconcerned with musical boundaries. In the past, their music style has been described as an “eclectic meld of raucous punk-rock, thunderous heavy metal and straightforward rock.” Sum 41’s new album, Screaming Bloody Murder, feeds off this past and expands on it.
They have recently been labelled as one of the world’s best live bands. Deryck Whibley says he’s not concerned with these labels, but “all we’ve ever tried to do is play better live. It’s what makes us a band. At times, everything else is bullshit. Touring is something we constantly work on, and over 12 years we have continued to improve.” Sum 41 has also been unapologetic about their life-style off the stage. “We’re best-friends, we love to play music. And we also happen to be idiots. This hasn’t changed since high-school,” says drummer Stevo Jocz. According to Whibley, “Rock music has a long history of partying. We are no different.”
