Jay Park "New Breed" Fans Meeting & Showcase @ 1Borneo Hypermall, Gourmet Lane, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (12/5/12) & KL Live, Life Centre, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur (13/5/12)
When: 4.00pm, Saturday, 12th May 2012 (MTF - KK) & 7.00pm, Sunday, 13th May, 2012 (Showcase - KL)
Jay Park is a Korean-American singer, dancer and actor. Born in Seattle, Washington, Park is a member of the b-boy crew Art of Movement (AOM) and was the charismatic leader of the South Korean K-Pop boyband “2PM”. Born and raised in the U.S., Park spent five years in Seoul gaining fluency in Korean, touring and cultivating a loyal and admiring fan base.
Park initially became famous for his appearance on the Korean television show “Hot Blood” and was awarded the lead role in the K-Pop boy band 2PM for receiving the most fan votes. As the group's frontman, Jay performed for sold-out arenas, appeared on television shows and cultivated a solid fan-base across Asia. In late 2009, a media storm ensued when some comments made by Jay on MySpace were taken out of context to make him sound anti-Korean. Jay soon parted ways with 2PM and returned to the U.S. to begin work on his solo career.
In March 2010 Park surprised fans by posting a cover of B.o.B’s and Bruno Mars’ “Nothin’ on You”. The YouTube post went viral, garnering over 5 million views — 1.5 million in the first 24 hours. The cover’s popularity prompted Warner Music Korea to release Park’s version of “Nothin’ on You” which immediately leapt to #1 on the Korean charts. His boyish good looks, explosive dance moves and ability to both sing and rap have led many to believe he’s poised to be the next breakout star in the U.S. market.
Jay broke into the movie industry and returned to Korea in June 2010 to film his lead role in the street dance feature film Hype Nation. He also recorded “Demon” as the original song for the Hype Nation soundtrack. Jay has also begun filming an additional movie entitled Happy Together, where he plays a lead role in the movie featuring a group who is forced to replace their lead singer with an indie band member.
On January 6, 2011, Jay’s hard work and dedication was awarded at the Mashable Awards where he was announced winner in “Best Web Video” category around the world for his song “Nothing on You”. During the same awards show, he also finished as 2nd runner up in the “Must Follow Personality” category.
On April 27, 2011 Jay released his first mini album “Take a Deeper Look” which demonstrates a variety of musical genres such as hiphop, dance, and R&B. His involvement in the overall production of the album was quite impressive as he wrote the lyrics for all seven songs and composed six of them. Jay Park worked with some of the best music video producers and choreographers during the production of the video for his title track “Abandoned” including producer Hong Won Ki and choreographer Andrew Baterina.
Jay Park is currently living in Seoul, Korea and continues to write and compose new songs in the hopes of releasing a few singles and an additional mini album by the end of the year.
New Breed

Jay Park released his first full album NEW BREED via music sites on February 7th Korean time.
This album’s title song is “Know Your Name”, which is a perfect blend of pop, eurodance, and hip-hop. The song puts the listener into a hypnotic state with its addictive melody and blends well with Jay’s forthright lyrics. The song is expected to become one of the hit songs of 2012.
There are 15 songs on the album, including the title song, and the album is diverse enough to catch the eyes and ears of all listeners. The genres include R&B, dance, electronic hip-hop, and also eurodance. It is a rare opportunity to meet a new side of Jay Park!
Jay Park is also the producer for this album once again after the last mini album.
He satisfactorily showed off an aspect of being an artist by producing and writing the lyrics for more than 80% of the songs on the album.
Jay Park showed that he was a ‘SINGER’ rather than an ‘IDOL’ with his last mini album TAKE A DEEPER LOOK which was released last year. With this full album NEW BREED, he is showing that he can also be a complete ‘musician’. There is more anticipation on this album because Rob Knox, Drunken Tiger, Mi Rae Yoon, Dynamic Duo, and other top international musicians are featured.
